Keshet International (KI) is set to hit the London TV Screenings with a raft of new shows, including “Trust No One,” a new Israeli thriller by Ron Leshem (“Euphoria”), Amit Cohen (“False Flag”) and Daniel Amsel (“MICE”). Other titles on Keshet’s roster include season 2 of “Line in the Sand,” as well as “A Body That Works.” These will be presented at a live event hosted for drama buyers on Wednesday as part of the London TV Screenings. “Trust No One,” which is set to roll out on Keshet 12 later this year, is directed by Ofir Lobel (“A Wonderful Country”)  and is headlined by Yehuda Levi (“A Body That Works,” “Fire Dance”). Levi stars as Itamar, the youngest ever director of the most powerful intelligence agency in Israel who has forged a career by recruiting and handling well-connected informants.  He is now faced with the worst crisis of his life: Itamar is being framed as the source of a cyber security leak. Totally isolated and no longer able to trust anyone, Itamar is forced to use the kind of morally questionable espionage tools he has always opposed to clear his name and save his agents’ lives – exposing a world where any smartphone, CCTV camera and digital device can be hacked.

With creator Sam Levinson still working on scripts for the upcoming third season of HBO’s Euphoria, filming plans have been temporarily put on hold, with the cast given permission to take other acting jobs in the interim.

Elsa Keslassy International Correspondent In one of the biggest co-production deals unveiled at Content London, Mediawan‘s label Atlantique Productions has joined forces with Participant to make an ambitious limited espionage thriller series based on the Pegasus spyware scandal. Amit Cohen (“False Flag,” “Bad Boy”) and Ron Leshem (“Euphoria,” “No Man’s Land”) are on board as creators and showrunners for the mini-series which will adapted from the bestseller “Pegasus: How a Spy in Our Pocket Threatens the End of Privacy, Dignity, and Democracy.” The book charts the sprawling international investigation conducted in 2020 and 2021 which revealed how governments used Pegasus spyware technology to spy on politicians, activists and business executives.

Euphoria fans are going to have to wait a little longer for the third season of the teen drama.

Euphoria executive producer Ron Leshem flew into Spain this week and recalled how Hollywood had initially turned down the HBO hit over concerns about teenage lead characters.

Ben Croll World-premiering at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival, Israeli espionage thriller “Trust No One” marries the pedigree and primetime polish of past series like “Traitor” and “Valley of Tears” with techno-anxieties tied to the here-and-now – specifically with regards to the security state and modern cyber warfare. “Israel has become one of the largest global exporters of spy ware,” says co-creator Daniel Amsel. “Only, those technological weapons can undermine democracy and lead to the death of truth. So we wanted to thread those very sensitive topics into an entertaining and fast-paced thriller that deals with the loneliness of leadership and the difficulties of parenthood, among other themes.”

Ben Croll Running the Monte-Carlo Television Festival since 2012, Laurent Puons has always tried to look ahead. From his embrace of streamers and digital platforms back in 2017 to his growing emphasis on diverse formats, the festival director sees his summer showcase as a bellwether event for the wider television industry – and what the industry could use right now, in Puons’ view, is flexibility.  “There are already so many festivals today dedicated to series,” Puons explains. “But Monte-Carlo follows a wholly different concept. We’re a home for all kinds of content, and one of the only festivals with both fiction and factual competitions. And when you see what’s broadcast on platforms like Netflix and Amazon, [you need to cover that full range.]”

EXCLUSIVE: Red Skies, the Israeli drama that counts Euphoria and Shtisel execs behind it, has landed a renewal a month before the first season has launched.

John Hopewell Chief International Correspondent CANNES  — Burgeoning Israeli film-TV studio Sipur and cable channel HOT, behind the original versions of “In Treatment” and “Euphoria,” are introducing at MipTV “Everybody Loves…,” a new global dating reality format. The news comes just days after France’s Mediawan Rights has pounced on international distribution of another Sipur format, “Hungry for Love,” and partners Sipur and MGM’s winning five Israeli Emmy Awards for chilling doc series “The Devil’s Confession: The Lost Eichmann Tapes.”Tel Aviv-based Sipur has also moved into post on “Bad Boy,” a scripted series from Ron Leshem, creator of the original Israeli “Euphoria” and an exec producer on its U.S version.  

William Earl Peter Chernin’s North Road Co. has pacted with Israel’s Sipur production banner for the drama series “Bad Boy” from the creators and producers of the original “Euphoria.” North Road and Sipur will partner on the production of the series from creator Ron Leshem and director Hagar Ben-Asher. Israel’s HOT platform and Tedy Productions are co-financing the series, which began production in January. “The North Road team is thrilled to work with the incredibly talented Ron Leshem and Hagar Ben-Asher and the teams at Sipur, Hot and Tedy to bring this exceptionally compelling and poignant story to life and launch our promising foray into international co-productions,” said Kristin Jones, president of film and TV for North Road.

John Hopewell Chief International Correspondent With an International Panorama spangled by gems  – think Spain’s “Apagón,” Sweden’s “Blackwater,” and Canada’s “Disobey” and “Little Bird” – Series Mania also weighs in this year with one, if not the, strongest and most mouthwatering of international competitions in its history.  Including the opening and closing series, Amazon’s “Greek Salad” and Netflix’s “Transatlantic,” nearly all the global streamers have titles in the lineup, from Apple TV+’s “Drops of God” and Paramount+’s “Fleeting Lies.” The lineup also features some A-List international writing talents, such as the U.K.’s Jack Thorne and Israel’s Ron Leshem and Amit Cohen, whose “The Virtues” and “No Man’s Land” rank among the most memorable of recent Series Mania competition titles, and closing the festival, out of competition, “Unorthodox’s” Anna Wenger.”Fleeting Lies” also represents one of the first series from Pedro and Agustín Almodóvar’s El Deseo label in Madrid, opening series “Greek Salad” Cedric Klapisch’s first works a TV series creator.

Marta Balaga High-flying Access Entertainment, a division of Len Blavatnik’s Access Industries and equity investor in A24 and “His Dark Materials” producer Bad Wolf, is investing in “Red Skies,” one of the biggest titles set to world premiere at this year’s Series Mania, in main International Competition.   Blavatnik and Danny Cohen, Access Entertainment president, will serve as executive producers on “Red Skies,” a position they also hold one upcoming movies such as Beau is Afraid, starring Joaquin Phoenix, Jonathan Glazer’s “Zone of Interest,” “Iron Claw,” starring Zac Efron, and “Conclave,” from Edward Berger, director of “All Quiet on the Western Front.”

But it’s not just about that “dark room and the level of concentration you hardly get when you sit on a sofa,” explains head of the event Julia Fidel, noting a surge in stories with a “reasonable” budget.  “We want to screen very different episodic narrative styles from any country in the world. There is this expectation of showcasing ‘blockbuster’ series, which we also include, but the real benefit of [having] a series section at a major festival are the discoveries.”  Such as Market Selects’ Israeli offering “Traitor.” “If the story is outstanding and the characters relatable, the language doesn’t matter,” state showrunners Ron Leshem and Amit Cohen.

Less than a week after Euphoria’s dramatic Season 2 finale, HBO is addressing claims about a toxic and unsafe workplace environment on the set of the Zendaya-led drama.

Jennifer Maas TV Business Writer“Euphoria” is now HBO’s second-most-watched show since 2004 behind only “Game of Thrones,” per the pay TV channel.The Zendaya-led drama hit yet another series high with its Season 2 finale episode Sunday, drawing 6.6 million viewers. According to HBO, “Euphoria” Season 2 episodes are now averaging 16.3 million viewers, the best performance for any season of an HBO series other than “Game of Thrones” since 2004.

HBO’s Euphoria climbed to new heights on Sunday, despite competition from the evening’s main attraction, Super Bowl LVI. The latest episode brought in a series-high 5.1 million viewers across all platforms, rising 20% from the previous week and surpassing the season average by 45%.

Euphoria‘s boasting a different kind of high for HBO this week with the third and latest episode continuing its growing streak.

HBO recently unveiled the first poster for Euphoria season two starring Zendaya. The season premiere drops January 9, 2022. Along with Zendaya, the show stars Hunter Schafer, Sydney Sweeny, Jacob Elordi, Storm Reid, and Colman Domingo.
