To mark Percy Jackson’s birthday, Disney+ has released a new teaser for the upcoming original series Percy Jackson and the Olympians, along with the announcement that the series, based on best-selling book series by Rick Riordan, will debut with a two-episode premiere on Dec. 20, 2023 on Disney+, followed by new episodes weekly.

First greenlit in January, “Percy Jackson” is an adaptation of Rick Riordan’s popular young-adult fantasy book series, which consists of five books released from 2005 to 2009. The series was previously adapted into two feature films released in 2010 and 2013, with Logan Lerman in the title role. The films grossed $425 million combined worldwide. The new series focuses on the titular 12 year-old boy (played by “Adam Project” star Walker Scobell), who discovers that he is the son of Greek god Poseidon and begins training to become a hero at Camp Half-Blood, a special training camp for demigods.

Disney+ is celebrating its upcoming series “Percy Jackson and the Olympians”, adapted from Rick Riordan’s beloved YA book series about a teenage boy who discovers he’s the son of Greek god Poseidon.
recent blog post, Riordan provided an update on production, explaining that his original guess that the series would debut in 2023 seems unrealistic now that he as “a somewhat better understanding of the work involved.” An official release date for the series has not yet been announced. “Again, that’s just me guessing,” he wrote.
