Cynthia Littleton Business Editor The Ides of March were marked this year by a three-way race among high profile filmmakers – Peter Farrelly, Doug Liman and Guy Ritchie – with original streaming film and TV series debuts across Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. But the sleeper success story of the week belonged to Netflix’s Lindsay Lohan rom com movie “Irish Wish.” Ritchie made a splashy debut on March 7 with Netflix’s “The Gentlemen,” an eight-episode TV heist drama delivered in the director’s signature style.
Diego Ramos Bechara editor Bobby Farrelly‘s sports comedy film “Champions” is among the Ruderman Family Foundation’s Seal of Authentic Representation awardees — an award that recognizes productions that practice inclusion and portray authentic representations of people with disabilities in the entertainment industry. Applauded for its decision to open auditions to actors with disabilities, “Champions” is among five productions receiving the award in a list of honorees that includes ABC drama series “The Company You Keep,” Momentum Pictures’ comedy-drama film “Wildflower,” Netflix drama miniseries “All the Light We Cannot See” and Netflix fantasy miniseries “The Witcher: Blood Origin.” For a production to be awarded the seal, it must meet two criteria: feature actors with disabilities with at least five lines of dialogue in a speaking role and be in or on the verge of general release.

Everything you need to know about the new movie, Ricky Stanicky is on the poster with a stark message plastered right across it: WARNING! AN R-RATED COMEDY. Oh, and the fact that it is directed and co-written by Peter Farrelly also tells you a lot. This is undeniably a return to the kinds of outrageous, raunchy, anything-goes-style of comedy that made the Farrelly brand a household name with films like Dumb And Dumber, Shallow Hal, Kingpin, Stuck On You, and the ‘Citizen Kane’ of the genre, There’s Something About Mary. More recently Farrelly, who also managed to put heart in even the wildest of situations, took his career in a different direction with his wonderful and emotional Oscar winning Green Book, as well as the terrific true story, The Greatest Beer Run Ever which starred Zac Efron. The latter is now reunited with the filmmaker and the results are laugh out loud hilarious in Ricky Stanicky which will also certify John Cena as a real deal comedy star, something I never expected to say. The guy has great comedic chops, at least in this.
What was old was extremely new on Netflix in January and even into this month.
The trailer for Zac Efron and John Cena‘s new movie has been released!
What happens when imagination goes too far? The new R-rated comedy “Ricky Stanicky” follows three friends with a unique problem. It’s about a childhood prank gone wrong and a decades-long lie gone too far, and how it all becomes all too real thanks to a failed actor.

Hollywood Reporter survey found that a majority would like to go back and change their 1977 votes for “Rocky” to “All the President’s Men.” And looking back at 1999, if they had to do it all over again, they’d give the gold to war epic “Saving Private Ryan” instead of the largely-forgotten “Shakespeare in Love.” But there have been a lot more recipients of Hollywood’s highest honor that have fallen out of favor — and sometimes in epic fashion. Here are 11 examples of Best Picture winners that probably wouldn’t win the award in 2023 — that is, if they were even green-lighted in the first place.
