EXCLUSIVE: Jesse Garcia (The Starling) and Yvonne Senat Jones (BET’s Ruthless) have joined the cast of The Mother, the action pic, emerging from a newly announced creative partnership between Netflix and Jennifer Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions.

Netflix‘s forthcoming thriller The Mother.The film, directed by Niki Caro, is being led by Jennifer Lopez, and will also star Lucy Paez and Paul Raci, who was nominated for his first Academy Award earlier this year for his performance in Sound of Metal.According to Variety, Lopez is set to play an assassin in The Mother, who emerges from hiding in order to protect her daughter, played by Paez, whom she had previously given up.

Netflix assassin thriller The Mother has added several familiar faces to its cast. The thriller from Mulan director Niki Caro casts J-Lo as a retired assassin who re-emerges from hiding to protect her daughter (Lucy Paez) from a crew of dangerous men.

Kaluuya gave a powerful performance as Black Panther party chairman Fred Hampton in the film, and on Sunday, he thanked God and his mother. «You give me everything, you give me your factory settings,» he quipped, to laughs from the audience.
