Earlier in the week, a Trailer dropped for News of the World, a longtime presumed Oscar frontrunner for this year. Starring Tom Hanks, he reunites with filmmaker Paul Greengrass for a movie that seems to check all of the Academy Award boxes.

Two-time Oscar winner Tom Hanks has been nominated for Academy Award performances six times, but even with that track record, the actor has been overlooked before. The biggest snub arguably was his turn in 2013’s “Captain Phillips” directed by Paul Greengrass (the Bourne’ movies), which did earn him a Golden Globe nomination.

Tom Hanks is hoping to position himself, once again, in the heart of the coming awards season with his new film, “News of the World.” And while we have been hit with an onslaught of delays from other major films being released in 2020, it appears that the new drama is still on its way to theaters this holiday season, as we are given new pictures from the film.
