Over the past decade, as Marvel Studios productions have become more popular, we’ve seen the directors of the feature films move onto high-profile, non-superhero work more times than not. And now, as Marvel Studios starts showcasing filmmaking talent in the various TV series this year, we’re seeing the trend translate to the small screen talent, as well, with “WandaVision” filmmaker Matt Shakman landing a new “Star Trek” film.

Sources tell Deadline, Skogland has been set to Paramount’s Cleopatra pic starring Gal Gadot.

While Lucasfilm is reportedly having issues trying to figure out their next “Star Wars” feature film after they pumped the breaks on Patty Jenkins‘ project “Star Wars: Rogue Squadron,” these issues don’t exist so much on Disney+. It’s full speed ahead on a lot of projects (ok, minus “Rangers of The Republic“) and the next big release will be “The Book of Boba Fett” debuting on December 29.

When high-profile films experience behind-the-scenes issues, you often see studios and folks involved cite other, smaller issues as the primary reason. The joke is that “scheduling conflict” is often never truly a scheduling issue.
