Marvel Studios‘ Echo has started production in Atlanta, Georgia!

Marvel Studios is fleshing out multiple new characters thanks to their shows on Disney+, and with “Moon Knight” coming to an end this week, there are some interesting tidbits about two Marvel characters that were originally planned to show up that ultimately didn’t make the cut. Head writer and executive producer Jeremey Slater revealed to the House of R podcast (Listen below) that the Marvel Studios series nearly featured “Hawkeye” character Maya Lopez/Echo as a love interest before they ultimately settled on the new character Layla El-Faouly, a surrogate for Marlene Alraune.

Marvel Studios continues to pump out a wave of series (content?) for Disney+, and one of the upcoming series is “Echo,” a “Hawkeye” spin-off show that focuses on the deaf character Maya Lopez, played by newcomer Alaqua Cox. “Echo” is being written and executive produced by Etan Cohen and Emily Cohen, who previously worked on “Hawkeye.” As filming is underway, Deadline has revealed that Indigenous actress Devery Jacobs (“Reservation Dogs“) has landed the role of Julie.

Directors Bert and Bertie open up to ET about giving audiences the chance to learn more about Maya, working with Alaqua and casting her cousin to play a younger version of the character.

first two episodes took time to introduce key characters, particularly Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), and an aging Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) on the limited series, episode 3 wasted no time jumping into action. Not only did the “Echoes” see the newly minted crime-fighting duo go fist to fist with the likes of Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) and Kazi (Fra Fee), but it also saw Kate and Clint involved in one of the most epic car chases seen on screen in recent history.

Marvel’s Hawkeye series hasn’t even premiered yet on Disney+, but the studio is already moving forward with its spinoff Echo.

Disney are working on a new Hawkeye television spin-off as part of their continued expansion of the Marvel universe.Variety have this week (March 22) reported that the new series is in early development with Etan Cohen and Emily Cohen reportedly writing and executive producing the series which will focus on superhero Echo.Echo, also known as Maya Lopez, can mimic another person’s movements or fighting moves perfectly.

Deadline has confirmed that Hawkeye spinoff series centering around that series character Echo is in early development with Etan Cohen and Emily Cohen set to write and executive produce. Echo aka Maya Lopez is a deaf Native American superhero who has the talent to imitate any opponent’s fighting style. She has also been in the circles of Daredevil, Moon Knight and the Avengers.

Hawkeye hasn’t even premiered yet on Disney+, but there’s already a spinoff planned!
