Anyone who thought this year’s Sundance lineup was a bit ennui, didn’t see A24’s electric Love Lies Bleeding tonight at the Eccles Theatre in Park City, UT. The Rose Glass directed and co-written lesbian romance crime bender starring Kristen Stewart and Katy O’Brian, drew hoots and hollers and big cheers throughout in an ultraviolent, twisty and turny tale of familial revenge.

Kristen Stewart has hinted that her upcoming movie Love Lies Bleeding “is going to shock people” due to its sex scenes.The Twilight actress recently discussed her wide-spanning career and her journey to becoming a queer icon with Variety. She spoke of her upcoming film Love Lies Bleeding, which is co-produced by A24 and Film4, and is set to premiere at Sundance Film Festival later this month.Directed by Rose Glass (Saint Maud), the film features a romance between Jackie (Katy O’Brien), an aspiring bodybuilder, and Lou (Stewart), a butch lesbian who works at Jackie’s gym.Stewart said that Love Lies Bleeding “turned on” the actress during filming, as it “glorified” the butch qualities that Stewart doesn’t often get to play in roles.

Kristen Stewart has a busy 2024 ahead of her with two films ready to premiere at Sundance, the lesbian crime thriller “Love Lies Bleeding” and the sci-fi romance “Love Me.” And she also has “Sacramento,” a road trip comedy on the way later this year, too. But Stewart may put off doing any other acting gigs until she gets the funding to make her directorial debut, “The Chronology Of Water.” In fact, that’s what she’s threatened to do in a new cover story for Variety.

Love Lies Bleeding is the new movie from director Rose Glass, whose 2019 debut Saint Maude was a critically acclaimed psychological horror set in the North of England. Glass is changing things up for her next movie, though, and diving deep into the intersection of bodybuilding and crime.
