After a pandemic cancelation, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is bringing the separate Governors Awards ceremony back. It will take place in person on January 15, 2022, in Los Angeles and it will have some living legends to celebrate.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Board of Governors voted to present Honorary Oscars to Samuel L. Jackson, Elaine May and Liv Ullmann, and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award to Danny Glover, the Academy announced on Thursday.The four Honorary Oscars will be presented at the Academy’s 12th Governors Awards on Saturday, Jan.

The Oscars was only two months ago, but the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences already has named working on the next recipients of the most desired award in the motion picture industry. At Tuesday night’s Board meeting, Danny Glover, Samuel L. Jackson, Elaine May and Liv Ullmann became the latest chosen to receive Honorary Oscars, which will be presented at the long-delayed 12th annual Governors Awards now set for Saturday, January 15, at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Hollywood.
