Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” will premiere July 28, HBO Max has announced.The release date was announced via a first look teaser for the series, which shows a mysterious figure cutting up and burning pictures of the five main characters: Imogen (Bailee Madison), Minnie (Malia Pyles), Noa (Maia Reficco), Tabby (Chandler Kinney) and Faran (Zaria).The new series is a sequel to the original series that focuses on a completely new set of teenagers in the blue-collar town of Millwood, Pa. The five main characters are tormented by someone operating under the identity of “A,” an alias assumed by villains from the original show, who knows the secrets of both the teenagers, and their parents.

The next evolution of the Pretty Little Liars franchise is about to drop on HBO Max.

“Legacies” is coming to an end at The CW after four seasons, TheWrap has learned.The Season 4 finale is set to air on June 16. The end of the series also means the conclusion of the network’s “Vampire Diaries” franchise, at least for now.

There will not be a fifth season for Legacies. The CW has opted not to renew The Originals spinoff from Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries), Warner Bros. TV and CBS Studios.

Previously, the network announced it was not moving ahead with new seasons of the DC shows “Naomi,” “Batwoman,” and “Legends of Tomorrow” as well as “4400,” “Charmed,” “Dynasty,” “Roswell, New Mexico,” and “In the Dark.”The cancellation of “Legacies” brings the “Vampire Diaries” universe to a close at The CW. “The Vampire Diaries” ran from 2009-2017 at the network, while the spinoff “The Originals” aired from 2013-2018.

EXCLUSIVE: Carrie Brownstein is set to direct MRC Film’s upcoming comedy Witness Protection, starring Emmy winner Annie Murphy, who will also executive produce. The film reunites Murphy with writers Rupinder Gill and David West Read of the Emmy-winning Schitt’s Creek, who will write and executive produce the film. Selome Hailu CBS has given a pilot order to “Rust Belt News,” a comedy written and executive produced by Matt Warburton.The single-camera series is set in a small Ohio town where the local newspaper goes out of business, leaving the ambitious, angsty reporters of the high school newspaper as the only people left to report on scandals, dig up corruption and generally polish the rust off their rust-belt community.Along with Warburton, executive producers include Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo on behalf of Alloy Entertainment.
