Nearly two years after a domestic violence allegations were made against Justin Roiland, the Rick & Morty co-creator has seen charges dismissed by the Orange County District Attorney’s office. Charges that Roiland insists Wednesday were based “solely on the word of an embitter ex.”

Zack Sharf Digital News Director “Rick and Morty” creator Justin Roiland has been cleared of domestic violence charges, Variety confirms. Kimberly Edds, spokeswoman for the Orange County District Attorney’s office, said in a statement: “We dismissed the charges today as a result of having insufficient evidence to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt.” Roiland took to social media to respond to the dropped charges, writing in a statement that he is “thankful the case has been dismissed. He added, “I’m still deeply shaken by the horrible lies that were reported about me during this process.” Roiland appeared in court in January for a pre-trial hearing after he was charged with one felony count of domestic battery with corporal injury and one felony count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud and/or deceit. He pleaded not guilty to the charges in 2020.  A second pre-trial hearing was scheduled for April 27.

Less than one day after Adult Swim severed ties with Rick and Morty creator Justin Roiland, Hulu announced that it, too, will distance itself from the performer/producer who’s been accused of domestic violence.

Justin Roiland, co-creator/executive producer of Adult Swim’s flagship animated series Rick and Morty, is no longer in business with the Warner Bros. Discovery brand on the heel of serious domestic violence allegations against him coming to light earlier this month.

Writing-producing duo Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit, showrunners on Hulu’s adult animated comedy Koala Man, which premieres today, have extended their relationship with 20th Television Animation with a new joint multi-year overall deal at the animation unit as well as sibling ABC Signature for live-action projects. The new pact succeeds duo’s 20th Television overall deal for live-action and animated series.

The first two episodes of the season are set to premiere on the service Thursday, Oct. 20, with the remaining three episodes dropping weekly afterward. In addition to Schumer, the new season features Amber Tamblyn, Bridget Everett, Cara Delevinge, Chris Parnell, Ellie Kemper, Jesse Williams, Laura Benanti, Michael Ian Black, Olivia Munn and Tim Meadows, and returning writers Christine Nangle, Tami Sagher, Jon Glaser and Jeremy Beiler. Meadows, Derek Gaines, Jaye McBride and Georgie Aldaco also join the writing staff this season.

Selome Hailu Hulu has renewed adult animated comedy “Solar Opposites” for its fifth season. The news was announced at a panel discussion about the series at New York Comic Con on Thursday. The Season 5 renewal comes before the show’s fourth season has even debuted. Season 3 of the series arrived on Hulu in July, with Season 4 set to premiere with 12 episodes sometime in 2023. The series has aired several holiday specials, most recently “Sinister Halloween Scary Opposites Solar Special,” which arrived on Hulu on Oct. 3. Justin Roiland, best known for creating Adult Swim’s “Rick and Morty” with Dan Harmon, co-created “Solar Opposites” along with “Star Trek: Lower Decks” creator Mike McMahan. The series centers around a team of four aliens who are evenly split on whether Earth is awful or awesome. Korvo (Roiland) and Yumyulack (Sean Giambrone) only see the pollution, crass consumerism and human frailty while Terry (Thomas Middleditch) and Jesse (Mary Mack) love their TV, junk food and fun stuff. Their mission is to protect the Pupa, a living super computer that will one day evolve into its true form, consume them and terraform the Earth. Season 3 saw the group of aliens strive to become less of a team and more of a family.

Solar Opposites hasn’t even begun its fourth season and Hulu is already wanting more: The streamer announced today at New York Comic-Con that it has renewed the series for a fifth season.

Adult Swim’s Emmy-winning animated comedy Rick and Morty is off to a strong start following its Season 6 premiere. The debut episode drew more than 1 million viewers in L+3, up 57% from its September 4 premiere. Those numbers will likely continue to grow as the Season 6 premiere episode “Solaricks” is available for streaming on Adult Swim’s YouTube channel until September 27.

Rick and Morty co-creator Dan Harmon has revealed plans to release a new season of the show every year.Ahead of the show’s sixth season, Harmon discussed the future of Rick and Morty in an interview with TheWrap.“This is the strangest thing I’ve ever said about the show and it still feels unreal to say it, but we’ll be doing a season a year now,” Harmon said.“I still don’t understand how that’s possible. But that’s why it never happened on my watch.

High On Life will receive downloadable content (DLC) and other post-launch additions, developer Squanch Games confirmed at Gamescom after showing off more in-game footage.The sci-fi first-person shooter is being developed by Squanch Games, the studio founded by the co-creator of Rick and Morty, Justin Roiland. Carson Burton “Succession” actress Sarah Snook and Australian comedian Demi Lardner have joined the cast of the upcoming Hulu animated comedy series “Koala Man.” Both were announced at the “Koala Man” panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday.Snook is set to play Vicky, who believes her husband Kevin — middle-aged father as well as the somewhat pathetic titular hero —  is just going through a phase. She tolerates Koala Man, a superhero whose only superpower is an intense passion for following rules and snuffing out petty crime in the Australian town of Dapto. However, Vicky hopes someday Kevin will snap out of his bizarre mid-life crisis so that he can show her the passion she feels is missing.

Hugh Jackman is saying “g’day” to a new animated project.The former “X-Men” star (who, it should be noted, is incredibly Australian) is set to lead the Hulu animated series “Koala Man” from “Rick and Morty” co-creator Justin Roiland and “Smiling Friends” co-creator Michael Cusack.“Koala Man” was ordered straight-to-series last spring and is officially described as centering around a “middle-aged dad Kevin [played by Jackman] and his titular not-so-secret identity, whose only superpower is a burning passion for following rules and snuffing out petty crime.”The show takes place in the Australian suburb of Dapto, where “forces of evil both cosmic and man-made lie in wait … Koala Man stands at the ready.
