Jaden Thompson “Wicked” composer Stephen Schwartz confirmed in an interview with Variety that production was shut down with just 10 days remaining to complete filming for Parts 1 and 2 of the film adaptation. Schwartz wrote the music and lyrics for the original musical and collaborated again with book writer Winnie Holzman for the film adaptation, which stars Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda. While Schwartz acknowledged that the timing was frustrating, he also expressed his solidarity with the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. “It’s quite frustrating in a way because we have, I think, 10 days worth of shooting to go finish all the shooting for both movies…But on the other hand, I might as well declare it, I’m in great sympathy and support of the unions that are striking,” he said.

Palmer. Jon M. Chu (“Crazy Rich Asians”) is attached to direct and produce the film, which chronicles an audacious European museum crime wave that targeted Chinese antiquities. The project already has a script in place by Ken Cheng, Jessica Gao and Jimmy O. Yang. Sources say Welch was involved in the discussions surrounding the removal of Bailey’s initial story and made the call to pull the revamped story, which ran some 500 words shorter than the published version. Those same sources say Warner Bros. Discovery complained about the initial story to two GQ editors, one of whom was Welch.

Erivo and Grande weren’t on hand to perform, but viewers were able to hear the captivating sounds of classic tunes like “Defying Gravity” and “Popular” in the background of the dazzling, magical footage. In the never-before-seen clip, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible works with Elphaba to help her control her powers. “Once you learn to harness your emotions, the sky is the limit,” Morrible tells her student. The featurette gives a sense of the sweeping, brightly lit set and includes scenes of Elphaba roaming the halls of Shiz University before meeting Glinda, who presents her new roommate with that iconic pointy hat. Later in the trailer, Jeff Goldblum makes an appearance as the wonderful Wizard of Oz, Glinda transports by bubble and Elphaba sports her signature broomstick.

Angelique Jackson Grammy winner and Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Anthony Ramos is the latest star in talks to join “Twisters,” the sequel to the 1996 storm-chasing blockbuster. Ramos, a Grammy winner and Golden Globe and Emmy nominee, would join Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell in the film, directed by “Minari” helmer Lee Isaac Chung, from a script by “The Revenant” writer Mark L. Smith. “Twisters” is set to release on July 19, 2024. The film, from Universal Pictures, Warner Bros. and Amblin Entertainment, is described as a “new chapter” of the 1996 movie, which followed a team of storm chasers as they hunt down the most powerful tornado in decades. Details of who Ramos will play remain under wraps, as have all plot details to this point.
