Although it’s been nearly 20 years since the series finale of “Frasier” in 2004, the witty and verbose psychiatrist Frasier Crane is back with a new comedy series that’s simply titled “Frasier” in 2023. Its first two episodes drop on Paramount+ on Oct.

“The assumption on my part was always that Frasier had grown,” says Frasier EP and star Kelsey Grammer as he joined a panel for the Paramount+ series at Deadline’s TV Contenders. “He’s an older man now – wiser, smarter, hopefully funnier and a little less hysterical about some things but still a man of honed, refined tastes and insists on living well.”

Kelsey Grammer has said that he “did his best” to convince David Hyde Pierce to return in his role of Niles Crane for the recent Frasier reboot. In a new interview with Variety, Grammer revealed that he made every effort to talk his former co-star into coming back, but that it fell on deaf ears. “I really wanted David Hyde Pierce to join us,” he said.

Gilpin will guest star in an episode of the series, reprising the role of Roz, whom she played throughout the original show’s 11-season run on NBC. As previously announced, Kelsey Grammer will reprise the role of Frasier Crane, with Jack Cutmore-Scott, Nicholas Lyndhurst, Toks Olagundoye, Jess Salgueiro, and Anders Keith also starring. Neuwirth will reunite with her onscreen husband Kelsey Grammer, who is leading the revival once again as Dr. Frasier Crane. The two originated the characters on the hit sitcom “Cheers,” with Neuwirth first appearing on the series in 1986. As previously announced, the revival series will take place in “Boston,” which was the setting for “Cheers.” According to the official description of the episode in which Neuwirth will appear, “When they reunite at Freddy’s birthday party, Lilith, in classic form, is far from pleased about having to share Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott) now that Frasier is back living in Boston. What begins as a fun party with friends and family, inevitably becomes a Lilith-and-Frasier showdown for the ages!”

A familiar character will be returning for the Frasier sequel series. Bebe Neuwirth, who recurred as Lilith in the original series, will reprise the role in the Paramount+ follow-up, reuniting with Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott) and Frasier (Kelsey Grammer).

The Frasier sequel series continues to build out the new generation of Cranes. Newcomer Anders Keith has been cast as Niles and Daphne’s son David, joining Jack Cutmore-Scott, who was previously tapped to play Frasier and Lilith’s son’s Freddy. Jess Salgueiro (Y: The Last Man) also has been cast as a lead opposite Kelsey Grammer and Cutmore-Scott in the long-in-the-works series for Paramount+.

Jack Cutmore-Scott (Kingsman, Deception) has been tapped to star opposite Kelsey Grammer in Frasier, Paramount+’s sequel series to the classic NBC sitcom. Cutmore-Scott will play Frasier Crane’s son Freddy. Also cast in the followup as a series regular is British actor Nicholas Lyndhurst who will play Alan Cornwall, a university professor who is an old college friend of Frasier’s.
