ITV's upcoming medical drama, Breathtaking, gives us a glimpse into the real-life struggles faced by NHS medics all across the country during the Covid-19 pandemic that gripped the globe at the start of the decade. The series focuses on Dr Abbey Henderson, an acute medicine consultant, and her team as they grapple with the initial outbreak of the deadly virus and a shortage of supplies.The show portrays the tough choices that healthcare professionals had to make during this time.The drama highlights the lack of proper PPE, infection rates, and how hospitals managed before and during the lockdown imposed by then Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

We go back to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in ITV1’s latest drama. Downton Abbey actress Joanne Froggatt stars as Dr Abbey Henderson, a front-line hospital consultant who fights to save her patients as the mystery virus becomes an ever-growing threat. Breathtaking is based on a book by journalist-turned-medic Rachel Clarke and has been adapted for the screen by doctor-turned-screenwriter Jed Mercurio.

Bodyguard” and “Line of Duty,” knows a thing or two about riveting television drama.And that’s why he signed on as an executive producer of “Payback,” a BritBox crime thriller series created and written by Debbie O’Malley that takes place in Scotland and features Peter Mullan, who memorably played doomed killer Jacob Snell on “Ozark.” “Debbie was a writer I admired and I knew her a bit socially,” Mercurio, 57, told The Post. “We got talking about this idea she had for a show and it was fairly soon in the process when I realized she was on to something — and then making sure we had a very strong serial thread.“Debbie did fantastic work on the protagonist, making her an everywoman character and creating the stakes and jeopardy within the story.”The protagonist here is Lexie Noble (Morven Christie), an accountant who’s raising her two young children in Edinburgh while her husband, Jared, who’s also an accountant, runs their business.

Vicky McClure, one of the leads in hit UK crime thriller Line of Duty, married her longtime fiancé on Friday, when the couple were serenaded by Our Dementia Choir, a group of singers with dementia brought together by McClure in 2019.

The six-part series stars Morven Christie (“The Bay”), Peter Mullan (“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”), Prasanna Puwanarajah (“Ten Percent”) and Derek Riddell (“Industry”). Written by Debbie O’Malley (“Call the Midwife”), “Payback” follows Lexie Noble (Christie) as she becomes entangled in a police operation to topple a notorious crime lord, Cal Morris (Mullan). The drama will be filmed in Glasgow, Edinburgh and surrounding areas.

Saraf’s role is under wraps at the moment but he describes the process as an “intense life-altering experience.” Once cast, in the middle of COVID-19, Saraf’s life was “upended at short notice” and he shot in Thailand and Australia for six months after spending two weeks in quarantine in each country.

Martin Compston has dropped a major hint that Line of Duty may return for another season. The hit BBC one police drama finished its sixth and supposedly final season last year when it revealed the true identity of the hidden mastermind ‘H.’ However, Martin, 38, who plays DI Steve Arnott on the show has revealed that he has spoken with creator and writer Jed Mercurio about the potential next season. He admitted: “We sat down with Jed recently." "We’ve always taken a year or two between series.This is no different," he continued.
