British action star Jason Statham (“Wrath of Man“) keeps churning out various genre projects and had previously attached himself to “The Beekeeper,” an action pic that is said to have incorporated the mythology of beekeeping, which sounds more puzzling the longer you ruminate on the concept. As the film is heading to Cannes Film Market this month, Deadline reports that “Suicide Squad” and “Fury” director David Ayer is now attached to helm the project that is based on a spec script penned by screenwriter Kurt Wimmer and hopes to be a franchise starter for Miramax.
