Joseph Kosinski was in talks to direct, but he has since exited the project, and the individual adds that the studio is currently meeting with other directors in the hopes the film can begin shooting by this spring. Deadline in a report on Monday listed candidates such as “Free Solo” directors Jimmy Chin & Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi as well as Laika’s Travis Knight, though one of the names floated in the report, “10 Cloverfield Lane” filmmaker Dan Trachtenberg, on Twitter denied being involved in making a sequel.

Zack Sharf Sandra Bullock recently told TooFab that she’s still embarrassed about starring in “Speed 2: Cruise Control,” the 1997 sequel to her breakthrough action movie “Speed.” The film starred Bullock opposite Jason Patric as a couple trying to stop a Caribbean cruise shop from crashing into an oil tanker. While “Speed” director Jan de Bont returned alongside Bullock, original leading man Keanu Reeves did not.“I have one [that] no one came around to and I’m still embarrassed I was in,” Bullock  said. “It’s called ‘Speed 2.’ I’ve been very vocal about it.

For some reason, out of the crop of new movies headed to Amazon Prime Video this month, many of them are associated with the 1980s. Not just movies from the Me Decade, although there are certainly a handful of classics from the Reagan era, but also movies that feel like they could have been made in that period – including a creature feature about rampaging dragons and a music-world spoof worthy of the ZAZ team.There’s also, of course, one of Steven Spielberg’s most powerful recent films and a 90s staple too.

“Twister” is an interesting film to discuss with folks. Some will swear by its campy, silly tone and say the Jan de Bont film is a classic.
