Ellie Goulding announces fifth album ‘Higher Than Heaven’

Ellie Goulding has announced her fifth studio album, ‘Higher Than Heaven’ – listen to the new single ‘Let It Die’ below. The record is due to arrive on February 3, 2023 (pre-order/pre-save here), and follows on from the pop artist’s 2020 album ‘Brightest Blue’.Speaking about the forthcoming project, Goulding explained: “There was definitely a darkness about [the past two years] that was palpable in the studio, with everyone having gone through it differently.“I think for that reason, nobody wanted to sit and agonise over some relationship or some drama. So that’s how this album came together.”She continued: “[‘Higher Than Heaven’ is] about being passionately in love. But it’s a hyper form of love, almost like a drug induced feeling.

Grammy Predictions: Tainy, Kid Harpoon, Ricky Reed in the Mix for Producer of the Year Noms

Mike Wass From familiar faces to rising stars and living legends, the producer of the year, non classical category promises to be one of the most hotly contested fields at the 2023 Grammy Awards. The leading contenders helped craft some of the year’s most acclaimed projects — elevating, refining, and, in some cases, reinventing the sounds of awards favorites like Beyoncé, Adele, and Brandi Carlisle. With Adele’s “30” very much in the mix this year, Greg Kurstin is a frontrunner to nab his fifth nomination. The producer-musician, who helmed the “30” hits “Easy On Me” and “Oh My God,” as well as crafting tracks for Maren Morris, Tate McRae, and Gorillaz, previously won in 2017 and 2018. He joins fellow frequent flier Jack Antonoff, who could repeat last year’s win thanks to his production on Florence + The Machine’s “Dance Fever” and singles such as the 1975’s “Part of the Band” and Tame Impala and Diana Ross’ “Turn Up The Sunshine.”

Loudon Wainwright, Beck and Spinal Tap’s Michael McKean and Christopher Guest Team Up With Judd Apatow for Benefit

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic It wasn’t quite a proper Spinal Tap reunion, but there was some implicit history happening Tuesday night at Largo in Los Angeles as Michael McKean and Christopher Guest joined Loudon Wainwright III, the headliner for the latest in a series of Judd Apatow-hosted “Juddapalooza” benefit concerts at Largo. Besides going back together about five and a half decades as friends on the musical-comedy scene, Wainwright, as hardcore fans will know, was seen as a member of Spinal Tap in a cameo in the very first filmed comedy sketch featuring the faux group in the late ’70s. Tuesday’s Largo show featured a healthy intermingling of Wainwright performing songs from his new album, “Lifetime Achievement,” and Guest and McKean bringing back some of the very earliest Spinal Tap “hits,” along with some folk-scene collaborations. Also on tap as unadvertised guests: Beck, who sang a few of his own songs and Neil Young’s “Old Man” along with assisting others in the hootenanny, and top producer Greg Kurstin, who proved game for completely unrehearsed piano contributions and even solos over the course of the two hours-plus.

Dave Grohl has said he would never go solo because he “actually like[s] being in the Foo Fighters“.The frontman is currently busy promoting the band’s new gross-out splatter horror Studio 666, and in a recent interview about the film he talked about never wanting to split from the Foos to go it alone.Describing the new movie, he told Sky News: “The premise is based on a lot of really hilarious rock and roll cliches and stereotypes, right? The lead singer that wants to go solo and is at a creative war with his own band – and some lead singers do exactly that.”He then added: “That’s something I would never wish to do because I actually like being in the Foo Fighters.”Grohl formed Foo Fighters in 1994 as a one-man project following the dissolution of his former band Nirvana. The band have won 12 Grammy Awards, including Best Rock Album four times, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year.Meanwhile, Grohl told NME in a new interview that he thinks Liam Gallagher is “one of the last remaining rock stars”.Earlier this month, Gallagher released ‘Everything’s Electric’, the first single to be taken from his upcoming new solo album ‘C’MON YOU KNOW’, which is set for release on May 27 and is the follow-up to 2019’s ‘Why Me?
