This new “Constantine” sequel, which will reunite him with original star Keanu Reeves and screenwriter Akiva Goldsman, will be different in at least one key aspect, at least if Lawrence has his way.

Temuera Morrison has joined the cast of Chief of War, Apple TV+’s  limited series starring, written and executive produced by Jason Momoa. It hails from Endeavor Content and Chernin Entertainment.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter Temuera Morrison has joined Jason Momoa in the Apple limited series “Chief of War,” Variety has learned. The role reunites the pair, as they previously played father and son in the DCEU film “Aquaman.” Morrison will also appear alongside Momoa in the sequel “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” due out in theaters in December 2023. “Chief of War” was first reported on in April. Per the official logline, the series “follows the epic and unprecedented telling of the unification and colonization of Hawaii from an indigenous point of view.” Morrison will play King Kahekili, the King of Maui.

Constantine has been confirmed, with Keanu Reeves and Francis Lawrence both set to return.The cult movie, directed by Lawrence, was released 17 years ago and follows John Constantine (Reeves) as he exorcises the possessed and travels between Earth and Hell seeking salvation from eternal damnation for a suicide attempt in his youth.As reported by Deadline, a follow-up has now been greenlit, with Akiva Goldsman set to write the screenplay and produce the film, with J.J. Keanu Reeves returning to the Constantine franchise, as revealed by Deadline earlier this afternoon, has thrown up some dust in the TV business.

Collider in 2020, would’ve had Constantine trying to identify a prisoner who turns out to be a reincarnation of Jesus Christ. Reeves will next be seen in “John Wick: Chapter 4” and will star in the Hulu series “Devil in the White City.” He also recently voiced Batman in Warner Bros.’ “DC League of Super-Pets” and reprised his role as Neo in “The Matrix Resurrections.” Lawrence is currently filming the next “Hunger Games” movie “A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” which should arrive next year and is a prequel to the original “Hunger Games” franchise.

Variety can confirm that Warner Bros. will make a sequel to the 2005 supernatural action film “Constantine” starring Keanu Reeves. The blockbuster star will reunite with original director Francis Lawrence, best known for taking over the “Hunger Games” franchise after the first film. “Constantine” has been a hot property in Hollywood, sparking a NBC series created by Daniel Cerone and David S. Goyer, and was even more recently being developed into a new series for HBO Max by J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions. However, sources tell Variety that the HBO Max series is now dead, although the streamer had been in early talks with an actor for the lead role before the new movie came together. Bad Robot’s “Madame X” series will also not be moving forward at HBO Max. Insiders say these decisions were not due to creative reasons, and expect to find a new home for both projects.

Few ’90s bands have as devoted a fanbase as Sublime. Now, the Long Beach, California ska band will get a biopic all about the band’s rise to fame and the tragic passing of its frontman, Bradley Nowell.

Sublime will be the focus of a new biopic entering production at Sony, with the band’s two surviving members – bassist Eric Wilson and drummer Bud Gaugh – involved as executive producers.The pair announced the film themselves, saying in a press release that they “can’t believe this is finally happening” and “couldn’t be more honored and excited to have the great Francis Lawrence and Chris Mundy telling our story”. Lawrence will serve as the film’s director, with Mundy handling its script.

Sony’s 3000 Pictures is developing a movie with “Hunger Games” director Francis Lawrence about the group from Long Beach, Calif. The band is best known for its fusion of reggae, punk, ska and hip-hop, all wrapped into a subgenre of alternative rock that they were at the forefront of throughout the 1990s. Songs like “What I Got,” “Santeria” and “Doin’ Time” became radio hits on local rock stations such as Los Angeles’ KROQ. The band’s lead singer, Bradley Nowell, died in May 1996 from a drug overdose, with the band’s final self-titled album releasing shortly after.

“What I Got” and “Santeria” became breakthrough chart-toppers and made Sublime one of the most successful bands of the decade.Lawrence will also produce with Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and David Ready from Chernin Entertainment, Dave Kaplan of Surfdog/DKM and Peter Paterno of KHPS. Wilson and Gaugh will be executive producers on the film with Nowell’s wife and son, Troy and Jakob.

EXCLUSIVE: One of the 90s biggest music acts is getting the biopic treatment from Hollywood as a new film on popular rock band Sublime is in development Sony Pictures with Hunger Games helmer Francis Lawrence attached to direct. Sony’s 3000 Pictures, Chernin Entertainment, about:blank, Dave Kaplan, and Peter Paterno are developing the film, with Kaplan and and Paterno being a driving force behind the property for years and played a huge part in putting the pieces together.

Netflix is developing a live-action film based on the “BioShock” video game franchise. A previous incarnation had been a passion project for filmmaker Gore Verbinski (“Pirates of The Caribbean“) but eventually dissolved before this latest version of the film surfaced.

The directing and writing assignment had been some of the more sough after jobs in the industry after Netflix announced in February that they were partnering with video game holding company Take-Two Interactive and its game publisher subsidiary, 2K, to produce a BioShock film. Since then, the studio and its partners have been aiming high on who would help guide this project given the scope of the property looking at A-list directors and writers for the job.
