Unless you’re living under a royal rock, you’ll know that the King’s Coronation is just around the corner. After months of prep, King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s big day is finally here, which will see the pair be officially crowned in a service at Westminster Abbey.The major event, which will take place on Saturday 6 May, will be followed by a procession back to Buckingham Palace, where the senior members of the royal family will make their way to the iconic balcony for waves and photos.

The 58 year old's former title was Countess of Wessex – equal in rank to Edward, the long-time Earl of Wessex.

The 58-year-old has become a much-loved royal and her position in The Firm has become increasingly important since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to step back from senior royal duties in 2020.

Prince Edward has been granted the title of Duke of Edinburgh by King Charles - honouring the wishes of the late Queen and Prince Philip. Edward and wife Sophie were made Earl and Countess of Wessex when they married at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle in June, 1999. After Edward received his new title on his 59th birthday on Friday, Sophie became the Duchess of Edinburgh - while their 15-year-old son James, Viscount Severn became the new Earl of Wessex.

Sophie, Countess of Wessex is expected to be made the Duchess of Edinburgh. Sophie, 57, who is married to the Queen’s youngest son Prince Edward, is believed to have had a close relationship with her late mother-in-law, even calling the monarch “Mama”. Following the Queen’s passing, the Countess has been pictured looking sombre and tearful as she attended a handful of memorial services for the Queen.
