We have confirmed that Universal Pictures is in early talks to come on to the project that would be the first feature film to shoot in outer space.If a deal were to close, Cruise would star with Liman directing.

Sometimes we talk about film development in terms of years, as it sometimes takes a filmmaker a long time to get a project off the ground. However, in the case of Tom Cruise and his upcoming space movie, it only takes a matter of weeks, apparently.

A few weeks ago, it was revealed that Tom Cruise was interested in becoming the first man to shoot a feature film in outer space. Not much was known about the film at the time, other than the actor was working with Elon Musk, the man behind Space X, to make it happen.

Liman has previously worked with Cruise on "American Made" and "Edge Of Tomorrow". Cruise is working with NASA and Elon Musk's SpaceX on the mystery film.
