Emmy-winning producer Jesse Collins has been tapped as showrunner and executive producer of the 80th Golden Globe Awards, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, dick clark productions and NBC announced Tuesday. Jesse Collins Entertainment president Dionne Harmon also will serve as an executive producer of the show that will air live coast-to-coast from the Beverly Hilton on Tuesday, January 10 at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT on NBC and Peacock.

Viewership of “Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks” on Peacock more than doubled when compared to last year’s show, Variety has learned exclusively, though exact streaming numbers for both 2022 and 2023 are unavailable. However, as the holiday event was simulcast across both Peacock and NBC, linear numbers show an increase as well: 4.6 million viewers tuned in to NBC’s live 8 p.m. airing, marking a 3% increase from 2022. In ratings among the adults 18-48 demographic, the fireworks jumped by 15%, scoring a 0.71 on Tuesday. And for the 10 p.m. encore, total viewership was up 4% while 18-49 ratings increased 20% compared to last year. (These statistics are all based on Live + Same Day data.)

The 47th annual “Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks” will bring music, patriotic displays, and yes, fireworks to a live broadcast set for Tuesday, July 4 (8-10 p.m. ET/PT) on NBC and streaming on Peacock.

No host has been named as of yet, and there are still a lot of questions to be answered as to how the writers strike may impact this year’s Emmy Awards, or if the calendar might shift. But for now, the main event is still scheduled to air on Monday, Sept 18 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on Fox. Jesse Collins Entertainment takes over from Done+Dusted and Hudlin Entertainment, which had jointly produced the Emmys in 2020, 2021 and 2022, the first two of which were COVID-impacted events. D+D had actually produced the Emmys for five consecutive years, having already been producing the Emmys telecast for two years when it was paired with Hudlin in 2020 to handle the unconventional, no-audience COVID-impacted Emmys. At the time, Hudlin made history as the first Black executive producer of the Primetime Emmys.

Jesse Collins, who just won an Emmy earlier this month as the producer behind “The Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show Starring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent,” has signed on to executive produce and showrun the 2023 Golden Globes as it returns to NBC in January. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, NBC and telecast producer Dick Clark Prods. announced on Tuesday that Collins would be at the helm as the Globes airs its 80th edition on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023, at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. ET. The Globes will continue to take place at its longtime home inside the Beverly Hilton ballroom.

Emmy-winning producer Dionne Harmon has been promoted to President at Jesse Collins Entertainment from her previous role as EVP Content and Strategy at JCE.
