Clarence soon sees an opening to make some bucks in the Messiah business but then he realizes that miracles can happen when you least expect them. The Book of Clarence, which also features RJ Cyler, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Omar Sy, David Oyelowo, Teyana Taylor, Anna Diop and Michael Ward, follows the director’s debut feature, The Harder They Fall, which spiced up the Western genre.

Lawmen: Bass Reeves is the latest Taylor Sheridan-produced Paramount+ series to air on CBS. Following the ratings success of Sheridan’s Yellowstone on the network, CBS will broadcast a special sampling of the first two episodes of Lawmen: Bass Reeves. They’ll air back-to-back on Sunday, Nov. 12, beginning at 9 PM, ET/PT, following an episode of the top-rated Yellowstone. Lawmen: Bass Reeves will fill the spot left by Big Brother, which airs its season finale on Thursday.

Alison Herman TV Critic “Lawmen: Bass Reeves” bears many of the trademarks of executive producer Taylor Sheridan, who now counts the anthology drama among his sprawling (and still growing) stable of shows for the streaming service Paramount+. The hour-long series is a big-budget Western with an overqualified cast — a rough synopsis that also applies to Sheridan touchstones like “1883” and “1923,” both star-studded prequels to his breakout hit “Yellowstone.” This particular ensemble is led by David Oyelowo as Reeves, a real-life historical figure and formerly enslaved U.S.

“1923” starring Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford, and “Tulsa King” starring Sylvester Stallone. “Lawmen: Bass Reeves” stars David Oyelowo (“Selma”) in the title role, with Donald Sutherland as a judge, Dennis Quaid as deputy US Marshal Sherill Lynn and Shea Whigham as George Reeves, the man who enslaves Bass at the beginning of the show. The historical drama premieres Nov.

At the risk of repeating ourselves again, “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan has become one of the top TV creators in TV alongside Ryan Murphy, Shonda Rhimes, and other TV moguls. Unlike them, however, Sheridan tends to write ALL his shows, directs many of them, and has his fingers in every single pie at Paramount+.

“I wanted to tell a story about the environment that I grew up in but based in the biblical era and merge the two,” Jeymes Samuel told Deadline’s Baz Bamigboye of the idea behind his latest pic, The Book of Clarence at London Contenders. 

“A lot of very impressive people have led this festival and what connects them is a love for movies and culture and what that can achieve,” Kristy Matheson told Deadline of her new job as Director of the British Film Institute’s London Film Festival.
