David Nevins’ footprint at ViacomCBS is about to get a whole lot more digital, again.

Matt Donnelly Senior Film WriterTop ViacomCBS executive David Nevins is in talks for an expanded role that would include oversight of content for Paramount Plus, sources tell Variety.The longtime Showtime CEO and chairman, who also serves as chief creative officer of CBS, would maintain his portfolio that at present includes Showtime Networks and BET Networks, individuals with knowledge of the talks said.

James Patrick Herman Lena Waithe and CBS’ chief creative officer David Nevins have been conducting a “great social experiment” over the past couple months, Waithe tells Variety. The findings of her preliminary research on “Twenties” — the semi-autobiographical sitcom she has been shopping for over a decade that began airing its eight-episode season on BET in March — were disappointing to say the least.

ViacomCBS' Showtime Networks said Tuesday that it has appointed Michael Crotty executive vp and chief financial officer, replacing Adam Townsend who will leave the company at the end of the month after 12 years of service across Showtime and CBS. Crotty, who will be based in New York and report to Showtime Networks chairman and CEO David Nevins, will also have oversight of BET Networks’ finance team.
