The Social Network writer Aaron Sorkin is sharing his plans for a sequel to the David Fincher film!

What’s Aaron Sorkin‘s next project? THR reports it may be a sequel to “The Social Network.”  The legendary screenwriter turned actor talked about a script he’s toying with on a new live edition of “The Town” podcast this week. And Sorkin plans to tackle Facebook’s dark legacy since he wrote the script for David Fincher‘s 2010 smash hit, namely the social media company’s influence on American politics.

Zack Sharf Digital News Director Aaron Sorkin confirmed during a live recording of “The Town” podcast that he is currently working on some kind of sequel to “The Social Network,” David Fincher’s acclaimed 2010 drama about the creation of Facebook that won Sorkin the Oscar for best adapted screenplay. “Look, yeah, I’ll be writing about this,” Sorkin said about the social media company’s recent years. “I blame Facebook for January 6.” Sorkin would not answer why he blamed Facebook for Trump supporters storming the U.S.

Academy Award winner Aaron Sorkin has reiterated his plans to write a sequel to his acclaimed drama, The Social Network, examining the origins of Facebook, one that will hone in on the social media platform’s impact on U.S. democracy.

When one thinks of auteur-driven Peak TV in the streaming age, the first shows that generally come to mind are “House Of Cards” (2013) with David Fincher at the helm (at least for the first few eps), “True Detective” (2014) by director Cary Fukunaga, and Steven Soderbergh’s “The Knick” (2014). Mindhunter could be set to make an unexpected comeback following its cancellation on Netflix.Months after director David Fincher revealed the show would not be returning for a third season, actor Holt McCallany, who played FBI Agent Bill Tench in the drama, has claimed Fincher is considering resurrecting it.In a recent interview with Awards Daily, McCallany said: “I’ve heard that David’s thought about it. Tilda Swinton has built an entire career working with auteurs, from her early days with Derek Jarman to her recent work with Wes Anderson, David Fincher, and Joanna Hogg. And she’ll continue the trend in upcoming projects too, as The Film Stage reports the actress will work with Pedro Almodóvar on his next film.

The next few months will be stacked with conversations about the year’s best film performances, but we’d be remiss to let 2023 go dark without mentioning one of its most exciting turns: Kerry O’Malley in David Fincher’s “The Killer.” A veteran working actress who has appeared on “1923,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and in features like the “Annabelle” franchise, O’Malley more than held her own alongside Michael Fassbender and Tilda Swinton in the unexpectedly funny tale of a contract killer gone haywire. O’Malley stars as Dolores, an average-seeming New Orleans woman who serves as dutiful assistant to a lawyer (Charles Parnell), who also happens to dole out high-paid hit orders on the rich and powerful.

Netflix is rounding out 2023 by announcing a lot of renewal and cancellation decisions for some of their biggest television shows.

There was no changing of the guard for Netflix‘s Top 10 this week.

For all the people that love working with David Fincher (and just looking at the caliber of actors he puts in his films proves the filmmaker is beloved), there’s still this underlying thing when they discuss the production of the film where they seemingly are walking a bit on eggshells. It doesn’t feel as if they’re concerned about upsetting Fincher, but instead, they can’t help but discuss just how difficult it is to work within his framework.
