Robert Rodriguez has found his new “Spy Kids” (and their parents). Gina Rodriguez, Zachary Levi, Everly Carganilla and newcomer Connor Esterson have been cast as the franchise’s new family.

EXCLUSIVE: It looks like Spy Kids creator Robert Rodriguez has found his new spy family for his family adventure franchise. Gina Rodriguez, Zachary Levi, Everly Carganilla and newcomer Connor Esterson are set to star in the upcoming film from Netflix, Skydance and Spyglass.

Apple and Skydance have unveiled the voice cast for their upcoming animated musical film “Spellbound,” adding Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem to lead the cast alongside the previously announced Rachel Zegler (“West Side Story”). Vicky Jenson (“Shrek”) is directing “Spellbound.” Additional cast includes John Lithgow, Jenifer Lewis, Nathan Lane, André De Shields and Jordan Fisher. Kidman will voice the role of Ellsmere, Lumbria’s kind and just queen; Bardem will voice Solon, the boastful and big-hearted king.

The animated film Spellbound led by West Side Story‘s Rachel Zegler has expanded its voice cast, with the Being the Ricardos duo of Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem signing on for roles, along with John Lithgow (Killers of the Flower Moon), Nathan Lane (Only Murders in the Building), Jenifer Lewis (I Love That for You), André De Shields (tick, tick… BOOM!) and Jordan Fisher (The Flash).

Uma Thurman (Kill Bill) and Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians) have joined the cast of Netflix and Skydance’s anticipated comic book sequel, The Old Guard 2. They’re set to star alongside returning cast members Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne, Matthias Schoenaerts, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Veronica Ngo and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, and Benny Medina will executive produce for Nuyorican.

There’s a limited series based on Rodgers & Hammerstein’s  in the works from Jennifer Lopez‘s Nuyorican Productions, Skydance Television, and Concord Originals. The project is an original take on the musical to be written by Rachel Shukert (GLOW, The Baby-Sitters Club) who will also executive produce and serve as showrunner.

The runway has been cleared for Wednesday’s world premiere of Paramount’s Top Gun: Maverick, the long-awaited sequel to the iconic 1986 original that sees Tom Cruise back in the cockpit.

Netflix and Skydance Television have set the cast of the untitled Arnold Schwarzenegger spy adventure series, signing nine actors as series regulars to join Schwarzenegger in his first TV series role, and previously announced female lead Monica Barbaro. The list includes Travis Van Winkle (You), Gabriel Luna, reuniting with Schwarzenegger after starring together in Terminator: Dark Fate, Fortune Feimster (The Mindy Project), Jay Baruchel (This Is the End), Milan Carter (Warped!), Fabiana Udenio (Jane the Virgin), Barbara Eve Harris (Station 19), Aparna Brielle (A.P. Netflix has closed a deal with Skydance to produce a reimagining of the successful 2001 “Spy Kids” franchise alongside Spyglass Media and creator and director Robert Rodriguez, the companies announced on Wednesday.Rodriguez will write and direct the new film, and like the original series, the new “Spy Kids” movie will focus on a multicultural family of international spies.The film will mark Rodriguez’s second family film with Netflix, following the 2020 family action film “We Can Be Heroes.” The original “Spy Kids” was released 21 years ago Wednesday, to the day.Spyglass owns the “Spy Kids” franchise. Skydance will serve as the lead studio and oversee development and production.

Scott Derrickson, the director of “Doctor Strange” and the upcoming “The Black Phone,” has found his next project, an action and love story called “The Gorge” for Skydance.Derrickson will come on board to direct “The Gorge” after Skydance originally picked up a spec script by Zach Dean — who also wrote Skydance’s “The Tomorrow War” — back in 2020 and developed it internally. “The Gorge” also previously landed on the 2020 Black List.

Scott Derrickson is set to direct Skydance’s The Gorge.  Skydance acquired Zack Dean’s spec script last fall in a highly competitive bidding war and have been developing internally.

David Ellison’s Skydance Media prove the tech giant is willing to spend big to build a global tentpole movie business, sources tell Variety.Nearly a month after it was announced that Apple had landed a slate of live action films from longtime Paramount Pictures partner Skydance, producer of the mega-franchise “Mission: Impossible” and the upcoming sequel to “Top Gun,” the town is still abuzz about what a lucrative and rarified deal Skydance carved out for itself.The agreement closely resembles a “put deal,’ according to sources, an increasingly rare Hollywood arrangement wherein a distributor is obligated to release movies its partner chooses (Jason Blum’s Blumhouse, Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw and Arnon Milchan’s New Regency are a few of the players that have commanded similar pacts). Though not unprecedented, industry observers say the deal between Skydance and Apple is among the richest received by any production company.

EXCLUSIVE: Skydance Animation has scored a major coup by acquiring the rights to make Ray Gunn. That will be the next animated film by writer/director Brad Bird, the Oscar-winning Pixar fixture who made The Incredibles films, Ratatouille, and The Iron Giant, as well as the live action Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. He will direct and produce the film from an original story by him. Bird wrote the script with Matthew Robbins.

After an accident sends him traveling through time, he winds up in the year 2022, when he was a 12-year old boy (played by Walker Scobell) struggling in school after the apparent disappearance of his father (played by Mark Ruffalo). Jennifer Garner portrays Adam’s mom, and the cast is rounded out by Catherine Keener, Zoe Saldana and Alex Mallari Jr.In the trailer, the two versions of Adam meet after his older self crashes his futuristic jet in the woods near his childhood home.
