Danny Cohen, executive producer of Jonathan Glazer‘s Holocaust drama The Zone Of Interest, has said he “fundamentally disagrees” with the director’s politically-orientated Oscars acceptance speech.

Yossman “The Zone of Interest” executive producer Danny Cohen has become the first member of the film’s production team to publicly address director Jonathan Glazer’s Oscars speech, saying “I just fundamentally disagree with Jonathan.” While accepting the Academy Award on Sunday evening for best international film, Glazer delivered a set of pre-written remarks in which he compared his Holocaust film to the current conflict in Gaza.

Focus Features has firmed up release plans for Conclave, the papal thriller marking filmmaker Edward Berger‘s follow-up to his 2022 Oscar winner All Quiet on the Western Front. An adaptation of Robert Harris’ same-name bestseller, penned by Peter Straughan, the film releases in theaters in New York and L.A. on November 1st, before expanding on the 8th.

Courtney Barnett has announced that she is closing her Milk! Records label, through which she has released her own music and that of other artists for more than a decade. The company’s final release will be her new instrumental album, the appropriately titled ‘End Of The Day’.In a statement on social media yesterday, the label confirmed the news, saying: “After eleven magical years, Milk! Records will be closing at the end of 2023.

Vertical announced today that they have acquired the US rights to the Peter Dinklage, Anne Hathaway romantic comedy “She Came to Me,” which opened the Berlin Film Festival in February of this year. “She Came to Me” is written and directed by Rebecca Miller (“Maggie’s Plan”) and, per the official synopsis, “follows Steven Lauddem (Dinklage), a composer who is plagued by a creative block which leaves him unable to finish the score for his big comeback opera.

EXCLUSIVE: Vertical has nabbed U.S. rights to the romantic comedy She Came to Me, starring Emmy winner Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones), Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway (Ocean’s 8) and Academy Award winner Marisa Tomei (Spider-Man: No Way Home), with plans to release the film in theaters nationwide on a date that has yet to be determined.

Charna Flam The Academy of Motion Picture Art and Sciences has launched an Academy Originals podcast, “The Art of the Documentary.” The new podcast is hosted by Oscar-nominee and “Crip Camp” documentarian Jim LeBrecht. The six-episode season will include LeBrecht sitting down with documentary filmmakers, as they reveal to the host and the audience their filmmaking processes. “The Art of the Documentary,” will chronicle “how a filmmaker approaches their subject and how they engage with it,” according to the press release. The podcast will highlight how the various documentarians work to find new filmmaking approaches, all in an effort to tell their stories in innovative ways. LeBrecht and guests will discuss how they achieve special access and how far they’ll go to get their story — even if that means taking dangerous risks.

Marta Balaga High-flying Access Entertainment, a division of Len Blavatnik’s Access Industries and equity investor in A24 and “His Dark Materials” producer Bad Wolf, is investing in “Red Skies,” one of the biggest titles set to world premiere at this year’s Series Mania, in main International Competition.   Blavatnik and Danny Cohen, Access Entertainment president, will serve as executive producers on “Red Skies,” a position they also hold one upcoming movies such as Beau is Afraid, starring Joaquin Phoenix, Jonathan Glazer’s “Zone of Interest,” “Iron Claw,” starring Zac Efron, and “Conclave,” from Edward Berger, director of “All Quiet on the Western Front.”

Lurid mysteries abound in Chilean filmmaker Sebastián Lelio’s latest feature, “The Wonder.” Starring “Don’t Worry Darling” and “Little Women” Oscar nominee Florence Pugh as an nurse tasked with caring for an ailing 11-year-old girl who’s inexplicably not eaten in four months, the first trailer showcases an atmospheric, 19th century tale with eerie twists and turns as Pugh nurse, the girl’s family and the townspeople around them fights to determine the young girl’s secret. Per a logline from distributor Netflix, which debuted the film Sept.

Most spy thrillers rely on action-oriented scenes with flashy camera movements, but Slow Horses presented a different option that interested cinematographer Danny Cohen. In what Cohen calls an “anti-spy thriller”, the challenge was to pull back on the flashy moves to highlight the dialogue and acting.

Anonymous Club, a documentary about singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett, has received funding from Screen Australia as part of the organisation’s $2.5million documentary production funding round.Taking its title from Barnett’s 2013 ‘How to Carve a Carrot into a Rose’ track of the same name, a brief synopsis of Anonymous Club says the film “[explores] the inner life of the notoriously shy artist amidst her significant rise to fame”.The documentary is written and directed by filmmaker Danny Cohen,

Melbourne rock trio Cable Ties have announced a new album. Jenny McKechnie, Shauna Boyle, and Nick Brown will release Far Enough on March 27 via Merge/Poison City. They’ve also shared a video for “Sandcastles” directed by Danny Cohen and announced a tour—find dates below. McKechnie discussed the new song in a statement.
