Ellise Shafer Sony Pictures has acquired the worldwide rights to “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey,” a fantasy romance starring Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell, in the first major deal of the European Film Market in Berlin. The film will be directed by Kogonada, who also helmed the TV series “Pachinko” and the sci-fi drama “After Yang.” “The Menu” scribe Seth Reiss penned the script. “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey” marks Robbie’s follow-up role to “Barbie,” the $1 billion blockbuster that she also produced.

Killers of the Flower Moon digital release has been confirmed and it is earlier than you may think with Martin Scorsese’s latest film arriving this very week. The Cannes-debuting period crime drama will be available to rent or buy digitally in over 100 countries from 5th December in collaboration with Paramount, reports Deadline.

Altering an initial platform-release plan, Apple Original Films will instead launch the Cannes Film Festival hit Killers of the Flower Moon to a wide global theatrical release October 20. Apple is partnered with Paramount Pictures on the theatrical release. This before the Martin Scorsese-directed film that stars Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio and Lily Gladstone gets an Apple TV+ berth. That timing is undetermined at the moment, but it will surely be in the heat of awards season.

Brent Lang Executive Editor Neon has acquired “Ferrari,” the next film from Michael Mann. It will release the drama in theaters nationwide on Christmas Day. The film, Mann’s first since 2015’s “Blackhat,” will star Adam Driver as Enzo Ferrari and Penélope Cruz as his wife, Laura Ferrari. The ensemble includes Shailene Woodley, Jack O’Connell, Sarah Gadon, Patrick Dempsey and Gabriel Leone. According to an official description, the film is set during the summer of 1957 and follows Enzo Ferrari as he deals with the possible bankruptcy of his company, as well as his stormy marriage and the death of his son. Against that backdrop, Ferrari wagers everything on one race, the 1,000-mile trek across Italy, the Mille Miglia.

However, as reported by Variety, it will have a run-time of close to four hours.Set to premiere at Cannes next month (May 20), the film is Scorsese’s first time presenting a film at the festival in over three decades – following his win for best director for the 1986 film, After Hours.

Taron Egerton is going deep undercover as a snitch in maximum security prison to entice a confession out of a suspected serial killer in a bid for his own early release in the trailer for “Black Bird.”The Apple TV+ series, which debuts with two episodes on July 8, finds Egerton playing Jimmy Keene, a decorated policeman’s son (Ray Liotta), who is sentenced to 10 years behind bars. But, with the authorities needing help in solving a series of gruesome murders, and suspect Larry Hall (Paul Walter Hauser) in supermax, Keene is offered the opportunity to go to the prison for the criminally insane, and elicit a confession.Things get hairy for Egerton’s Keene as the trailer shows, as he deals with violence, the mentally ill and solitary confinement.New episodes of the six-episode psychological thriller will drop every Friday though August 5.Author Dennis Lehane developed and wrote the drama, which is inspired by actual events, and is executive producer.The series stars “Rocketman” alum Egerton, Hauser, Greg Kinnear as Brian Miller, Sepideh Moafi as Lauren McCauley and Liotta as Jimmy Keene’s father, Big Jim Keene. “Black Bird” is based on the true crime memoir “In with the Devil: A  Fallen Hero, A Serial Killer, and A Dangerous Bargain for Redemption” by James Keene and Hillel Levin.Michaël R.

While serving his sentence, he is offered a chance for early parole, on the condition that he move to a prison for the criminally insane and befriend serial killer Larry Hall (Hauser). Keene reluctantly agrees to the unusual case, and develops a complicated relationship with Hall as he attempts to discover the truth behind the murders the convict is suspected of committing.
