On the day season three of Abi Morgan’s drama series The Split launches in the U.S. on BBC America, producer Sister has snapped up rights to the screenwriter’s autobiographical book This is Not a Pity Memoir.

BBC legal drama The Split is returning to our screens for a two-part special after the show came to an end in 2022 - and its welcoming a new cast member.The series stars Nicola Walker as family lawyer Hannah Defoe, navigating her high-intensity career with her complicated love life. While the drama came to a close with series three, the BBC has revealed that the Defoe family will be back for a two-part special.

The final season may have concluded in 2022 but the BBC isn’t letting go of legal drama The Split just yet, with a Barcelona-set special greenlit three months after a Manchester spin off.

From the looks of “Eric,” Abi Morgan has cooked up a stirring psychological thriller for Netflix. And for her latest limited series, the writer of Steve McQueen‘s 2011 film “Shame” returns to the Big Apple, but this is a much different NYC than that film.

Netflix have confirmed the release date for a new thriller series starring British actor Benedict Cumberbatch.

The BBC’s hit legal drama The Split is getting a brand new spin-off show set in Manchester.

Yossman Sister co-founder and chief creative officer Jane Featherstone spoke about how difficult it is to back original IP – as opposed to the relentless stream of reboots and spin-offs – in the current climate. “We have to hold our nerve,” Featherstone said. “As producers, we have to try and [walk] that tightrope of kind of giving people what they think they want but surprising people. And I don’t think audiences always do know what they want until they see it, and you can’t always emulate. So we have to be bold and brave.” Featherstone was speaking in Cannes during a keynote speech at MipTV as she accepted Variety’s 2023 International Achievement in Television Award on behalf of Sister, the production company known for original fare such as “Chernobyl” and divorce drama “The Split,” which she runs with Elisabeth Murdoch and Stacey Snider.

Yossman Netflix is re-making David Nicholls weeper “One Day” as a series with a screenplay from Nicole Taylor (“The Nest”), working with Anna Jordan, Vinay Patel and Bijan Sheibani.The novel tells the story of Emma and Dexter, who meet at college and whose on/off relationship is told through the lens of the same day each subsequent year.A 2011 film adaptation of the novel starred Anne Hathaway in the lead role opposite Jim Sturgess.

Mariner Books, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, has acquired North American rights to This Is Not a Pity Memoir, the first book by award-winning screenwriter and playwright Abi Morgan. The book, part of collaboration with the publishing arm of Michael Sugar’s Sugar23, is set to be published June 2022.
