Residents were evacuated from their homes and officers currently remain on the scene at Santander in Cowgate.The Cowgate, between West High Street and Catherine Street, has been closed by officers.The exact circumstances surrounding the incident have yet to be confirmed.One resident said that an attempted robbery had taken place at the bank moments before neighbours were evacuated.Police confirmed there is no wider threat to the public at this time.
