Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic Singer-actor Janelle Monáe will be bringing her “Age of Pleasure” principle to North American theaters and amphitheaters this late summer and fall, with a nearly two-month tour that begins Aug. 30 in Seattle and wraps Oct. 18 at the L.A. area’s YouTube Theater. The Live Nation-backed 26-city tour will follow a couple of months on the heels of Monáe’s first album in five years, “The Age of Pleasure,” which comes out June 9. She was sober for over 18 months, then started to sneak back into it. And then in the last month she went full tilt,” Ashdown told AP. No cause of death was given. A fluid and personal writer, she had long described her struggles with severe depression and alcoholism. She had more recently been criticized for promoting anti-trans sentiments on her blog dooce.com.

It will consist of a North American summer leg and a European fall run, with Busta Rhymes in support on every stop of the tour and Jeremih scheduled to join for all of the North American dates.
