Developers withdraw plans for London Sphere

UK government called for plans for the Vegas-style Sphere venue to be created in London to be revived, after they had been scrapped by the city’s mayor, Sadiq Khan. The original plans, first announced in 2018, would have seen a 21,500-capacity venue built, becoming the largest concert arena in the UK.The proposed venue had raised concerns from some of those living in the surrounding area, who highlighted the strains on local infrastructure and health risks. The London Assembly Environment Committee also warned of the unacceptable light levels that would be created by the venue – with the finished product set to have an estimated 1million LED light bulbs on its exterior.Following Khan’s intervention, the UK Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities Michael Gove ordered a six-week pause, to allow time for the government to re-consider the Mayor’s decision. But, Sphere Entertainment, a sister firm to MSG, said it has now written to Gove advising him of the company’s plan to withdraw its application. In a statement, the company said: “We have informed Mr.

MSG Sphere is unlike any other concert venue in the world.Typically, fans flock to shows to see their favorite artists perform; they could care less about the stage they stepped foot on.Yet, when the visually spectacular Sphere opened in Sin City in late September 2023, everything changed.Boasting the world’s largest high-definition LED screen that wraps around the crowd as well as a specialized sound system that makes audience members “feel” sound vibrations, suddenly the location was the main attraction. That being said, the performers staging residencies at the spherical concert space are no slouches.Up first, Rock and Roll Hall of Famers U2 delivered the hits. Soon after, director Darren Aronofsky’s immersive film “Postcard From Earth” took center screen.

Will KISS play a residency at Las Vegas Sphere? Paul Stanley responds

KISS may be the next band to have a residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas. The impressive new music venue – which cost over $2billion, features a 16k wraparound LED screen and 167,000 speakers – opened its doors last month just east of the Las Vegas strip, and has since played host to U2, who are holding a residency there. However, with the Irish rock band’s series of shows at the location now drawing to an end, there has been a huge amount of speculation about who will be the next artist to bring their live show to the new Nevada stage. However, according to Paul Stanley, it seems like KISS won’t be the next in line. The frontman opened up about the possibility of bringing their show to the Sphere in a new interview with Ultimate Classic Rock, stating that he doesn’t see the residency taking place any time soon.“I can’t speak to it in any other way except to be honest with you about how I feel now, and the way I feel today is … I can’t really see that happening,” he told the outlet.“As far as I’m concerned, we’re done.”The comments come in light of the New York rock veterans currently playing the last leg of their ongoing tour.
