CBS will again ring in the new year with New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash. The five-hour celebration returns to the network, airing live Sunday, Dec. 31 from downtown Nashville at 7:30-10 PM ET/PT/10:30 PM-1:05 AM ET/PT on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ as part of a multi-year deal.

There’s a new awards show in town.

Luke Bryan canceled another show over the weekend as he deals with health issues. Bryan, 47, announced the Brandon, Mississippi, show cancelation Sunday morning, hours before he was supposed to take the stage for the "Country on Tour" concert. "Under doctor advisement after taking 6 days off to heal I attempted to sing at both shows Thursday and Saturday and it was a struggle," Bryan explained in a statement shared to social media.

The country star, who was supposed to headline the three-day Watershed Festival in George, Washington, broke the news on his Instagram story Sunday. "This is such a frustrating weekend. ‘Shedders, I am sorry to let you down but I am not back singing—can hardly even talk still," he wrote.

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic A lot of people who go back in country music, be it the fans or even some who work in the industry in Nashville, refuse to call the CMA Music Festival anything other than “Fan Fair,” the name the annual event had in the far more humble ’70s, ’80s and ’90s. That’s the era when it took place out amid the pungent aromas of Nashville’s fairgrounds, not in and around a downtown stadium. Rather than resist that nostalgia for a quainter era, the CMA indulged it this year by selling vintage-looking T-shirts at merch booths — which, by the way, Country Music Association CEO Sarah Trahern says sold quite well. The festival is definitely embracing its past by including that former moniker in the title of a new documentary, “CMA Fest: 50 Years of Fan Fair,” premiering on Hulu today.

The show serves as a music-industry-centric adjunct to the ACM Awards telecast that is globally webcast in the spring. The announcement of these winners precedes by a day the reveal of the big names that will receive special awards during the August program, along with forthcoming news of the show’s host and ticketing information. Jay Joyce, the producer for Lainey Wilson, Ashley McBryde and many other artists, was named producer of the year for a sixth time. Justin Niebank has an even longer-running streak — he’ll be awarded as audio engineer for a ninth time.

The most likely answer: She’d probably be almost as big, even without the Taylor Sheridan factor. After all, it’s not a TV show that came up with the combination of country-rock singing chops, irresistible Louisiana accent and gosh-dang gung-ho that have captivated listeners to the point that, in short succession, she’s racked up four No. 1 Mediabase radio singles and been one of the leading winners at the CMA and ACM awards shows.

The 47th annual “Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks” will bring music, patriotic displays, and yes, fireworks to a live broadcast set for Tuesday, July 4 (8-10 p.m. ET/PT) on NBC and streaming on Peacock. 

As "Yellowstone" prepares to wrap up the hit show after five seasons, Lainey Wilson is just as excited as fans to see how the series will end.  "I have realized that the TV world is even crazier than the music world," she said during an interview with People.  "I'm like, ‘Taylor Sheridan, you got to let me know what's going on, bro.’ I'm excited to see what happens.There’s no doubt the rest of season five is gonna be money." While the second half of the fifth season of "Yellowstone" is expected to premiere in November, the country star admitted she’s also in the dark about co-creator Sheridan’s plans for the series.  Wilson portrayed the singer Abby on the hit show "Yellowstone" for four episodes. The 30-year-old artist pointed out how "Yellowstone" has made a major impact in the western world and the music industry overall.  "What ‘Yellowstone’ has done for the western way of life has been a huge turning point," she said.
