Given its wobbly beginnings, it’s wild to see how far Paramount’s “Sonic The Hedgehog” franchise has come. Based on the popular SEGA video game from the ’90s, the series seemed dead on arrival— or even before arrival.

It’s another social satire for the Swedish auteur, about a long-haul flight where the entertainment system stops working, leading passengers to fly into rages.

While the exact plot of the movie remains under wraps, Östlund has teased it several times as a social satire set on a long-haul flight on which the entertainment system isn’t working, sparking chaos and rages among passengers.

Michael Burns, vice chairman of Lionsgate, shared the news during a Q&A at the Morgan Stanley media conference on Tuesday, revealing, “We’re going to go out with the ‘Twilight’ series, an animated series, I think there’ll be a lot of interest in that.” Last April, Variety reported that a “Twilight” TV series adaptation was in very early development at Lionsgate Television.

Hill was already able to coax “John Wick” franchise star Keanu Reeves to lead it last year, and today, Deadline adds that Cameron Diaz is now in talks to take a leading part in the Apple drama.
