Peacock has given a series order to Laid, a comedy from Universal Television written and executive produced by Nahnatchka Khanand Sally Bradford McKenna.

It looks like heist movies will be the dominant genre in film the next couple of years. Deadline reports that Pete Davidson joins Eddie Murphy on “The Pickup,” a heist comedy for Amazon MGM.  Tim Story will direct the “SNL” alums on the project, and also produce through his The Story Company.

Tim Story is directing the comedy and producing through his The Story Company, alongside Davis Entertainment’s John Davis and John Fox, and Murphy and Charisse Hewitt-Webster via Eddie Murphy Productions.

Selome Hailu “Magnum P.I.” is coming to a close at NBC. The drama series, which was canceled by CBS last year before NBC picked it up, will not continue past the upcoming second part of Season 5. The decision not to order a sixth season comes past the 50-day mark of the WGA strike and a potential strike by SAG-AFTRA after the actors union’s contract with the AMPTP expires on June 30. That date coincides with the end of the “Magnum P.I.” cast’s deals at NBC. Therefore, to avoid cancelling the show, NBC would have had to either order more episodes without knowing when they could enter production or extend the actors’ deals to prolong the decision-making period. Ultimately, opted to release the actors and move forward without “Magnum P.I.” on its slate.

NBC drama series The Blacklist, now in its 10th and last season, is moving into its final weeks with some changes ahead. Beginning June 1, the show, which currently airs on Sundays at 10 pm, will move to Thursdays. Back-to-back episodes will air that night, June 1, at 8 pm and 9 pm, with subsequent episodes airing weekly at 8 pm.

The script will be written by Steven Knight, the See and Peaky Blinders creator who just signed on to write a Star Wars film.

Netflix has opted not to renew new comedy series Blockbuster for a second season.

The half-hour comedy’s 10 episodes will premiere all at once on the streaming service. Park plays Timmy Yoon, an analog dreamer who is in charge of the last operating Blockbuster Video in the United States. Timmy, alongside the rest of his employees, must work to remind their community that the local store can provide the human connection that big corporations can’t. Alongside Park, the cast includes Melissa Fumero as Eliza Walker, Tyler Alvarez as Carlos Herrera, Madeleine Arthur as Hannah Hadman and Olga Merediz as Connie Serrano. Recurring guest stars for the series include J.B. Smoove as Percy Scott and Kamaia Fairburn as Kayla Scott.

I hear the 20 episodes will be split into two seasons, bringing the reboot’s  run to 96 episodes, with an option for more.
