Michael Schneider Variety Editor at Large “Dear Edward” is now dearly departed. The Apple TV+ drama will not move forward with a second season, Variety has confirmed. Executive producer Jason Katims is now set up at Imagine TV, but “Dear Edward” came from his deal with Apple Studios, which produced the show. Written, showrun and executive produced by Katims, the 10-episode “Dear Edward” was adapted from author Ann Napolitano’s novel about a 12-year-old boy who is the only survivor of a commercial plane crash. Newcomer Colin O’Brien played Edward, while “Dear Edward” was also notable for its reunion between Katims and his “Friday Night Lights” star Connie Britton, who played a woman whose husband was killed on the plane. Taylor Schilling also starred as Edward’s aunt, who takes custody of the boy after he loses his parents and brother to the crash.

Imagine Entertainment announced that it has signed a multi-project deal for scripted television with Emmy-winning writer/producer Jason Katims and his True Jack Productions banner. Together, they have three projects in the works.

Following her work on “The Morning Show,” Apple TV+ is locking up Emmy Award-winning director and filmmaker Mimi Leder to a multi-year overall deal. Under the pact, the growing streaming service will have a first-look on streaming features, as well as an exclusive deal for series developed by Leder, who currently serves as executive producer and director on the star-studded “The Morning Show.” The deal comes shortly after Apple TV+ renewed “The Morning Show” for a third season.

The Morning Show executive producer and director Mimi Leder is sticking around Apple TV+. The Emmy-winning filmmaker (On The Basis of Sex, ER) has signed a multi-year, overall deal with the streamer.

EXCLUSIVE: Alyssa Jirrels, Toby Huss, Reno Wilson and Brian Goodman have joined the cast of Fatal Attraction, Paramount+’s series reimagining of the classic 1980s psychosexual thriller film. They join previously announced leads Lizzy Caplan, Joshua Jackson and Amanda Peet.

Jason Katims approached As We See It with a personal connection: his son is on the autism spectrum. He decided to go fully authentic with the casting, hiring three autistic actors that had an understanding of what it means to be on the spectrum. The choice has led to critical acclaim for the Amazon Prime Video series for its well-rounded characters.

Get used to Rick Glassman’s name: you’ll be hearing a lot more of it as his career continues to ascend. The comic—and host of the Take Your Shoes Off podcast—plays a starring role as Jack in Prime Video’s As We See It, from creator Jason Katims. The show follows a group of three Angeleno roommates living with autism as they attempt to navigate the world. And Katims, whose own son has Asperger’s syndrome, was determined that the show be cast authentically, with actors living on the spectrum given the lead roles. Sue Ann Pien and Albert Rutecki round out the lead cast as Jack’s roommates, while Sosie Bacon plays the group’s neurotypical live-in aide and Joe Mantegna plays Jack’s dad.
