The next big “Star Wars” series that has yet to go into production is the mysterious project only known as “The Acolyte” that is gathering steam after actress Amandla Stenberg (“The Hate U Give“) reportedly landed the lead role. While we don’t know a lot of details, it’s confirmed that the new show takes place during The High Republic, a new era of “Star Wars” that was launched for a publication push for books and comic books, a hundred years before the events of “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.” Set between The Old Republic and the Skywalker Saga, the show will indeed move away from the Skywalkers but Jedi such as Yoda are alive during this era, allowing for original/prequel trilogy characters to make their comebacks.

This week is not only “Star Wars Celebration” week, but the debut of the “Obi-Wan Kenobi” event limited series. And while many will be excited for the show, “Star Wars” fandom can be deeply unfortunate, and others will simply sling hate because it features women and non-white characters in the cast.

As “Star Wars” moves away from film (for the moment) and pivots to the streaming space, one of the tenets that Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has vowed and repeated for a while is that the company is moving away from the Skywalker Saga, following the ninth film in the series, “Star Wars: Rise Of Skywalker.” And in a recent interview with Vanity Fair, the Lucasfilm chief has reiterated that notion once again.

“Star Wars” fans are excited to see Ewan McGregor reprise the role of everyone’s favorite Jedi master in the upcoming “Obi-Wan Kenobi” limited series helmed by director Deborah Chow. While the show also includes the return of McGregor’s prequels co-star Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, fans have long assumed that Liam Neeson would return as Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan’s own master that was struck down by Darth Maul in “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.” Sure, Qui-Gon Jinn is dead, but that’s what Force Ghost appearances are for.

George Lucas and Kathleen Kennedy, stewards of the Star Wars universe and numerous other notable motion pictures, are being honored by the Producers Guild of America for their contributions to the film industry. The PGA said Friday that Lucas and Kennedy will receive the Milestone Award at the Producers Guild Awards in March, joining the ranks of previous honorees that include Louis B.

When it comes to Disney+‘s ‘Star Wars’ shows, there’s a lot of exciting stuff on the way, “Obi-Wan Kenobi” and “Andor” among them. Now, the latest one is almost here: “The Book Of Boba Fett” premieres just in time for the new year.

So far, the Disney+ world has only really known one live-action “Star Wars” project and that is “The Mandalorian.” But Lucasfilm has quite a few new series in the works, including the upcoming “Book of Boba Fett,” which is scheduled to arrive before the end of the year.

While Lucasfilm is reportedly having issues trying to figure out their next “Star Wars” feature film after they pumped the breaks on Patty Jenkins‘ project “Star Wars: Rogue Squadron,” these issues don’t exist so much on Disney+. It’s full speed ahead on a lot of projects (ok, minus “Rangers of The Republic“) and the next big release will be “The Book of Boba Fett” debuting on December 29.

When Lucasfilm fired “The Mandalorian” actress Gina Carano in February of this year, it caused some domino effect problems for their projects in development. Two months earlier, at the big Disney Investors Day, Lucasfilm announced a new “Star Wars” series, “Rangers of The New Republic.” And while it was never officially announced, it seemed clear that Carano’s Cara Dune character would be one of those Rangers.

When high-profile films experience behind-the-scenes issues, you often see studios and folks involved cite other, smaller issues as the primary reason. The joke is that “scheduling conflict” is often never truly a scheduling issue.
