A fired Vermont deputy sheriff who is the only candidate on the November ballot to become sheriff is continuing to insist he did nothing wrong when he was recorded on surveillance video kicking a handcuffed and shackled prisoner. John Grismore won the nomination of both Franklin County's Republican and Democratic parties to have his name on the November ballot, but after the video became public in August he was suspended and then fired. Now his bid to become sheriff has lost the support of both parties, which have thrown their support to a write-in candidate.

Six gas stations in New London County, Connecticut, were robbed at gunpoint Friday evening. Norwich police received a report of a gas station robbery on Washington Street at around 7:45 p.m. Friday, with the suspect described as a 5'9" Black male wearing a mask, black puffy winter jacket, gray sweatpants and black shoes.

The Kentucky Supreme Court will travel to Shelbyville next week to hear oral arguments and answer questions from the audience. The court usually hears cases in Frankfort but is going to Shelbyville as part of a public education program that was started in 1985. Sessions have been held in locations across the state.

Eleven workers at Plainville Farms in Pennsylvania have been charged with animal cruelty after a PETA investigator captured video allegedly showing them kicking, stomping and beating turkeys. The mistreatment took place at the company’s farms in Chester, Cumberland, Franklin, Fulton, Perry and Union counties, Pennsylvania State Police said Thursday.

Variety can also reveal that the network’s “It’s a Wonderful Lifetime” lineup will also feature two more films on its 2022 slate: “Merry Swissmas,” starring Jodie Sweetin and Tim Rozon; and “Kirk Franklin’s the Night Before Christmas,” starring Naturi Naughton and Luke James. “A Christmas Spark,” written by Eirene Tran Donohue, produced by Lighthouse Pictures and distributed by Sony Pictures Television, follows recently widowed Molly (Seymour) who decides to visit her daughter for Christmas. There, she signs on to direct the town’s Christmas pageant and finds herself falling for Hank (Lando), the town’s most eligible bachelor. Naomi Judd's autopsy report released by the Nashville medical examiner’s office confirmed statements that the late country music star's family members had previously made regarding the circumstances of her death at the age of 76 on April 30.
