Naman Ramachandran The U.K.’s National Film and Television School (NFTS) has partnered with “The Crown” producer Left Bank Pictures on the NFTS Diverse Writers Development Program that kicks off in March 2024. It will select six emerging U.K. screenwriters from under-represented backgrounds to contribute their voices to the entertainment landscape and inject fresh perspectives into scripted drama.

Paul McCartney was spotted by fans enjoying the sunset on Saturday night (June 24) at Glastonbury 2023.The Beatles legend is on site at Worthy Farm this weekend, with rumours about him making a special guest performance with Guns N’ Roses during their headline set last night.That didn’t materialise – Dave Grohl joined them instead on ‘Paradise City’ – but one fan did spot McCartney soaking up the sun at the top of the Park hill as evening drew in.“A surreal moment amongst an already mad weekend,” the fan wrote. “Walked to the top of the Glastonbury hill for a sunset photo, turns out Paul McCartney had the same idea!”Alongside the caption was a video of McCartney watching the sunset next to an SUV at the top of the bill.

Guns N’ Roses have kicked off an expansive 2023 world tour in Abu Dhabi, returning a handful of songs to the setlist for the first time in decades.The band played Etihad Arena in the United Arab Emirates capital on Thursday night (June 1). Included among the more than 30 songs they played were ‘Appetite for Destruction’ cut ‘Anything Goes’, breaking the song out for the first time since 1988.

The initiative was created by the film market’s new executive director Guillaume Esmiol to connect VIP private investors with select filmmakers and producers boasting a stellar track records. Curated by experts such as Medici’s Tamara Tatishvili, Arte Cinema’s Rémi Burah and financier Serge Hayat, the nine projects are budgeted between €2 million and €12 million. Among these are “Dracula. The Second Coming” directed by Radu Jude, the Romanian helmer of Berlinale prizewinning “Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn,” directed by Ada Solomon at microFILM; “Rivo Alto,” directed by Clément Cogitore (“The Wakhan Front”) and produced by Jean-Christophe Reymond at Kazak Productions (“Titane”); “The Girl” directed by Marina Ziolkowski (“But You Look So Good”) and produced by Philippe Gompel (“Cherry”) at Manny Films, and “The Birthday Party” directed by Miguel Angel Jimenez (“Chaika”) and produced by Giorgos Karnavas (“Triangle of Sadness”) at Heretic.

The initiative will also feature a panel discussion titled Navigating Film Finance in a Changing World that aims to offer insights on global financing and market trends in 2023 and beyond. Gene Maddaus Senior Media Writer Amazon has been awarded $35.3 million in state tax incentives for TV production, including the largest amount ever granted by the state of California for a single film or TV season. “Citadel,” a big-budget spy thriller set to debut on April 28, was awarded $25 million to relocate to California from the U.K. for its second season. The show is expected to pay $119 million in “qualified” expenditures — which include below-the-line workers and California vendors — making it the biggest show ever lured from out of state by the credit. The Hollywood Reporter has called the show “pricey and troubled,” noting that its first-season budget soared above $200 million due to a change in the creative team and extensive reshoots.

Carrie Underwood recently invited Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose on stage to perform the latter’s ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ together at her recent concert in Los Angeles.Underwood brought Rose out during the encore portion of her set at the Crypto.com Arena on March 13, where both of them would sing a rendition of Guns N’ Roses’ ‘Welcome To The Jungle’.Watch the pair perform ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ below.This performance would mark the first time that Carrie Underwood and Axl Rose have performed the track together.
