CMAT has hit out at the Irish broadcaster RTÉ, after they cut Lankum’s acceptance speech at the Choice Music Prize, in which the band spoke passionately about Palestine.The band were picking up this year’s edition of the award, which is handed out to the best album by an Irish artist. Thania Garcia Pearl Jam has simultaneously announced a world tour and the arrival of their twelfth studio effort, “Dark Matter,” slated for release on April 19. The band shared the set’s electrifying title track on Tuesday morning. The 35-date worldwide tour will launch in May, just a few weeks after the release of “Dark Matter,” and hit nine countries and 25 cities, starting with the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The Murder Capital have shared footage of them playing one of Sinead O’Connor’s tracks at a live show to mark the funeral of the late singer.News of O’Connor’s passing broke two weeks ago (July 26), after the Irish singer and activist was found unresponsive in her London home. She was pronounced dead at the scene, aged 56.The update came one year after the death of her son Shane, who died by suicide.

Kendall Calling is back for four days of music and festival fun this week. Taking place at Lowther Deer Park, near Penrith, Cumbria, the popular event runs from Thursday July 27 until Sunday July 30.

Angelique Jackson “Cinnamon” and “A Song From the Dark” were two of the big winners at the “Best of the ABFF Awards” presented Saturday during the American Black Film Festival. Following its world premiere at the Tribeca Festival, “Cinnamon” continued its festival run at ABFF in Miami Beach, Fl., where it was awarded the prize for best narrative feature and best director for writer-director Bryian Keith Montgomery Jr. The Tubi original film stars Hailey Kilgore, Damon Wayans, Pam Grier, David Iacono and Jeremie Harris. Kilgore plays Jodi, a struggling small-town gas station attendant with “killer pipes and big dreams,” who falls hopelessly in love with a hustler (Iacono) and falls foul of a local crime lord (Grier) and her murderous family. The noir thriller serves as the inaugural project filmed under Village Roadshow Pictures’ Black Noir Cinema banner, co-founded by NBA all-star Kevin Garnett. Veteran producer Oz Scott oversees the content slate, which also includes “Murder City,” a film starring Mike Colter, Antonio Fargas and Stephanie Sigman that made its world premiere at ABFF.

Florence + The Machine frontwoman Florence Welch’s forthcoming The Great Gatsby musical adaptation is set to premiere on Broadway next year.Entitled Gatsby, the show will premiere at Harvard University’s American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts, according to Rolling Stone.Welch is collaborating with producer Thomas Bartlett, who records music as Doveman. Angelique Jackson Antonio Fargas (“Starsky and Hutch”) and Stephanie Sigman (“Miss Bala”) have joined star Mike Colter in Tubi’s ‘Murder City,’ the second movie filmed under Village Roadshow Pictures’ Black Noir Cinema franchise, co-founded by NBA great Kevin Garnett. Last December, Variety exclusively announced “Murder City” as one of the first films slated for Black Noir Cinema, a lineup of genre movies developed and produced by Village Roadshow and Tubi, which will exclusively debut on the Fox-owned free streaming platform. Described as a “thrilling contemporary crime story,” the film follows Neil (Colter), a disgraced former cop, who after losing his job on the police force is forced to work with the city’s most notorious — and ruthless — kingpin, Ash (Sigman), to settle the debts of his estranged, deadbeat father, Graham (Fargas), and protect his wife and son.

Pearl Jam have announced a number of new additions to their BST Hyde Park shows next month.The gigs on July 8 and 9 will be the band’s biggest ever London shows. Pearl Jam were originally due to headline BST Hyde Park in 2021 alongside Duran Duran but the event was cancelled as a result of the COVID pandemic.Newly announced support acts for the shows include October Drift, Fatherson, LIFE and Daytime TV on July 8.

Fontaines D.C. are launching a scholarship at the BIMM Institute in Dublin, where the band’s members all met while studying music.The scholarship will cover course fees for the full four-year-duration of a student to complete a BA (Hons) Commercial Modern Music degree, worth €12,000.

Stereophonics and Cat Power are among the new support acts that have been announced for Pearl Jam‘s pair of Hyde Park shows this summer.Pearl Jam will play at the BST Hyde Park series in central London on July 8 and 9, with Pixies already set to support the band on the opening night.This morning (February 24) BST Hyde Park announced a host of support acts for both shows. Cat Power, White Reaper, The Murder Capital, The Glorious Sons, Simon Townshend, La Luz, Sick Joy and Dream Nails will all play on July 8 prior to Pearl Jam’s headline slot.Stereophonics lead the support acts on July 9, with Imelda May, The Last Internationale, La Luz, JJ Wilde and The Wild Things also set to perform.More artists are due to be announced for both line-ups in the coming weeks and months.
