Selome Hailu “The Studio,” Apple TV+’s upcoming half-hour comedy starring and produced by Seth Rogen, has added seven new cast members. Catherine O’Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz and Chase Sui Wonders have been cast as series regulars, while Bryan Cranston, Keyla Monterroso Mejia and Dewayne Perkins will play recurring roles. Per the official logline, “The Studio” follows “a legacy Hollywood movie studio trying to survive in a world where it is increasingly difficult for art and commerce to live together.” The project, which is now in production, was ordered to series in November of 2022.

Selome Hailu Olivia Williams and Jodhi May have been cast in Max’s “Dune: The Sisterhood” (working title) following the exits of previously announced cast members Shirley Henderson and Indira Varma. Henderson departed the series amid “creative changes” made in February, while Varma’s departure was due to scheduling conflicts. Additionally, Anna Foerster is now set as a director on the series, replacing Johan Renck, who departed at the same time as Henderson. In November, series creator Diane Ademu-John stepped down as co-showrunner, but she remains involved as executive producer.
Jennifer Maas TV Business Writer Aidy Bryant is set to star in “Lonely Hearts Club,” a dramedy series based on an episode of the Crime Junkies podcast, currently in the works at Peacock. “Beau Is Afraid” filmmaker Ari Aster is executive producing the project. Set in the late 1940s, “Lonely Hearts Club” is described as a darkly comedic true crime thriller about a lonely woman who falls in love with a dim but handsome con man. Together they form an unlikely “Loser-Bonnie-and-Clyde”-style partnership that ends in lies, murder and the electric chair. The show is based on an episode of Ashley Flowers’ Crime Junkie podcast entitled “Infamous: The ‘Lonely Hearts’ Killers.”

BreAnna Bell Jerah Milligan has signed with CAA for representation. A multi-hyphenate creative artist, Milligan co-created and starred in Netflix’s “Astronomy Club,” which was executive produced by Kenya Barris and Dan Powell, and co-wrote, executive produced, and starred in an original presentation of “Sherlock Homies” for HBO Max. As a director, he recently directed the sketch segments of Yvonne Orji’s latest HBO Special “A Whole Me.” Milligan’s short film “Mahogany Drive,” which he directed and co-wrote, was recently screened at the Slamdance Film Festival. His additional directing credits include Showtime’s “Desus & Mero” and MTV’s “Wild ‘N Out.” Milligan is a product of Viacom’s Viewfinder: Emerging Directors Program.

Oscar-winning filmmaker Ang Lee has cast his son Mason Lee to play Bruce Lee in a biopic about the legendary martial artist for Sony’s 3000 Pictures.The “Brokeback Mountain” director will helm a script by Dan Futterman (“Capote,” “Foxcatcher”), building on previous versions by Jean Castelli, Alex Law and Mabel Cheung and, most recently Wells Tower.Bruce Lee’s daughter Shannon Lee will produce the film, which is untitled for now, along with Ang Lee, Lawrence Grey of Grey Matter Productions, Ben Everard, and Brian Bell. 3000 Pictures’ Elizabeth Gabler and Marisa Paiva will oversee the project on behalf of the studio.
