A mum has died following a disturbance in the street in Edinburgh on Thursday night.
Emergency services were called to Constitution Street in the capital shortly before 8pm on Thursday May 18 following reports of an incident in the area. Eyewitnesses saw forensic officers in white scene of crime overalls on the scene outside a British Heart Foundation charity shop and the Foot of the Walk pub.
The mum has been named locally as Danielle Davidson, 33, from Edinburgh. Tributes have been paid to her by friends and family online, who hailed her as a "fighter" and a "lovely lassie".
One relative wrote: "Life's so cruel; you were a fighter; you don't deserve this; not everyone understood you - but those in your life did - now you’re gone."
Another said: "Rest in peace cuz! You will always be loved and never forgotten."
A friend said: "Can’t believe this. Such a lovely lassie, life's so cruel. Thinking of u all."
While another pal wrote: "No way. She truly was a trooper."
An eyewitness told Edinburgh Live: "I passed by five minutes ago and saw five marked police cars, two unmarked and forensics were getting suited or unsuited. Constitution Street is taped off and there were white sheets on the tram line."
Police Scotland has been contacted for further comment. A force spokesperson previously said: "Officers are in attendance following a report of a disturbance on Constitution Street in Edinburgh, which was reported at around 7:50pm on Thursday, May 18, 2023."
