A doggy duo who have found themselves in rescue are looking for a home to take the pair on, as they’re never been apart their whole lives. Ellie and Billy are two Yorkshire Terriers who are said to be ‘like a married couple’ and are hoping to find someone who will home them together.
The bonded pair arrived at Bury’s Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary in January 2023 after their owner ‘had too many animals to care for’.
They’re just two of the animals that Manchester Evening News have been trying to find a home for as part of our Give A Dog A Home feature, working with animal sanctuaries across Greater Manchester, including Dogs Trust, Manchester Dogs Home, Wigan’s Makants Greyhound Rescue and now, Bleakholt, in Bury.

Ellie, aged seven, and Billy, who’s eight, may not be related, but adore each other - but like most couples, have a tiff from time to time.
A spokesperson for the rescue said: “Ellie and Billy have been together all their life and are like a married couple, and as such will sometimes squabble over the silliest of things. Billy can be vocal when out on walks especially if he sees another dog and Ellie sometimes follows suit.
“They are an affectionate pair who love being stroked and petted. They enjoy being out and about and having off lead time in the garden.”
Ellie and Billy are looking for a pet free home, and would be able to live with someone who is on their own and looking for companionship, a couple or a family with children 12 years and above.
If you’re interested in rehoming Ellie and Billy, Bleakholt is open to visitors from Thursday to Sunday from 11am to 4pm, with no need to book. The adoption fee is usually £175
