There are plenty of Love Island contestants who dream of using the show as a launching pad to get the influencing career of their dreams, but it doesn’t always work out that way. Instead there are plenty of former Islanders who, whether out of choice or necessity, have ended up back at their day jobs after appearing on the show.

Todd Spangler NY Digital Editor Variety scored four nominations for the 27th annual Webby Awards, including a nod for best entertainment website of the year. The publication’s nominations are for: entertainment website (in the general websites and mobile sites category); editorial writing (in the features and design category); Variety Power of Women 2022 (under events and livestreams in the general video category); and Variety’s TikTok explainer video series (in the how-to, explainer and DIY social video category). The annual awards, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences (IADAS), recognize excellence on the internet and span video, social media, websites, apps, games, VR and podcasts.

The annual Idaho Awards Bash took place from March 29 to April 2 at Whiskey Jacques.   In addition to the film awards, the festival hosted a performance by Blair Gun and Variety honored this year’s 10 Producers to Watch. Other highlights include Josh Brolin receiving the Vision award, Emilio Estevez receiving the Pioneer award, Sophie Thatcher receiving the Rising Star award and Nina Yang Bongiovi receiving the Creative Impact Honoree in Producing.

Glastonbury organisers have announced the finalists of the festival’s Emerging Talent Competition 2023.The acts chosen from thousands of entries are: Cordelia Gartside, EVA, FFSYTHO?!, Naomi Kimpenu, N’famady Kouyaté, The Love Buzz, and NME 100 stars for 2022: Prima Queen and VLURE.Whoever wins the competition will perform on the festival’s main stages at this year’s event, which runs from June 21-June 25. There are also talent development prizes for the winner as well as for two runners-up provided by PRS Foundation.As announced by organisers previously, Ezra Williams (FKA Smoothboi Ezra) has made it to this year’s last stage after missing last year’s final due to illness.

The star-studded evening was co-hosted by Halle Bailey, Julia Garner and Paul Mescal, the latter of which is nominated for his performance in “Aftersun” at this weekend’s Academy Awards. Garner, who walked the red carpet with husband Mark Foster, was excited to be out and about during one of the biggest weeks of the year. “This is for the young, new talent that’s in the industry right now. It’s such an honor to be here — it’s nice to be out of the house outside of this bubble we’ve all been living in,” she told Variety. “Not via zoom!”

Emily Longeretta Hallmark Movies & Mysteries is bringing back “Aurora Teagarden Mysteries” with a new Aurora. On Thursday, the network announced the return of the franchise with a new prequel series, “Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Something New,” set to premiere later this year. Skyler Samuels will star as young Aurora, while Evan Roderick will play young Arthur. Marilu Henner will return as Aida Teagarden. “Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Something New” is set after Aurora has graduated college and returns home in Lawrenceton. “While her mother, Aida, struggles to keep her newfound real estate business, Aurora supports herself by working as a teacher’s assistant in a crime fiction class, and waitresses at the local diner at night, where she shares her love of researching true crime with her friend Sally and police officer Arthur,” Hallmark’s press release reads. “When Sally’s fiancé doesn’t show up at their wedding rehearsal, Maid of Honor Aurora gets Arthur to help her search for him. When they discover a body, everyone assumes it is Sally’s tardy groom, but when it turns out to be someone else, Sally’s fiancé becomes the main suspect.”
