William and Kate 'won't do long tours in future - they value family time'

It was revealed last year that King Charles is planning the largest ever series of official tours in the UK, the Commonwealth and to other countries around the world to "extend a hand of friendship and support.” While it has been understood that the monarch will prioritise visits to the United States, Australia, New Zealand and a number of Commonwealth realms in the Caribbean, there are a number of countries that will also be high on the agenda such as India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. The King and Queen undertook their first visit to Germany before the Coronation, but are expected to make several more trips in the coming few years. While Their Majesties will carry out many of the visits themselves, they are ably supported by key senior royals, such as The Prince and Princess of Wales, who are thought to be instrumental in The King's plans for future foreign tours.

Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello ripped for anti-Nazi post

sharing an anti-Nazi quote, with fans accusing him of fascism and intolerance.Morello, who has played guitar with the rock band for more than three decades, posted the quote to his Twitter page Wednesday. “German saying: If 9 people sit down at a table with 1 Nazi without protest, there are 10 Nazis at the table,” the post read. While the quote was unattributed, it clearly claims those who politely engage with people who demonstrate hateful behavior are complicit in their bad acts.

‘Succession’ Season 4 Was a Mess — Until the Series Finale

Daniel D'Addario Chief TV Critic SPOILER ALERT: This post contains spoilers from “With Open Eyes,” the series finale of HBO’s “Succession,” now streaming on Max. What a relief that the only votes being counted in the “Succession” finale were those of Waystar Royco board members. “Succession’s” series finale returned the show’s focus to the Roy family and their moves and countermoves against one another. How refreshing, after a season that was, on the whole and especially in recent weeks, cludgily paced and oddly unfocused. The polish and elegance of the show’s final moments stands in crisp counterpoint to a stretch of episodes that didn’t have the juice: It was as though the confirmation, at last, that the family business really would be changing hands reminded the show what gave it its elemental power.

‘The Zone of Interest,’ ‘The Settlers’ Score Fipresci Awards at Cannes

Marta Balaga Jonathan Glazer’s “The Zone of Interest” has scored a Fipresci award in Cannes.  The jury of the International Federation of Film Critics praised the film “for its formal radicality, the complexity of the sound and score, and its contrast between the invisible atrocities behind the wall and a supposed paradise,” Fipresci stated on Saturday.  “By presenting the horror as something usual, and using everyday-like dialogues, it’s a reflection on ignorance as a disease that connects the past with the present.” Glazer’s take on a Nazi family living next door to Auschwitz and enjoying it – loosely based on the novel by Martin Amis, who tragically passed away on May 19, just before the premiere – has been getting rave reviews at the French festival, becoming one of the frontrunners for this year’s Palme d’Or.

Berlin Film Fund Chief Toasts Cannes Films, Looks Ahead to Venice, Calls for Amped Up German Production Incentives (EXCLUSIVE)

Leo Barraclough International Features Editor Kirsten Niehuus, CEO at Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, which funds films and TV series production in the Berlin region, and Simone Baumann, managing director of German Films, which promotes and supports the release of German films abroad, welcomed a wide array of guests to their garden party at the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday. Three Medienboard-funded films are in this year’s Competition: Tunisian director Kaouther Ben Hania’s “Four Daughters,” Austrian filmmaker Jessica Hausner’s “Club Zero,” and U.S. helmer Wes Anderson’s “Asteroid City.” Niehuus told Variety: “Those are three very different productions, but it shows the spectrum [of films] that Medienboard supports.” Tunisian films, like “Four Daughters,” need international co-production funding to get made, she said, and “we believe in world cinema, so were very happy [to back it].” Hausner is “one of the most impressive female filmmakers [in the world], and I think there should be more female filmmakers on the Croisette and every other ‘A’ festival,” she said. “Asteroid City” is “the best of American arthouse filmmaking; very stylish, with a great narrative – so we love it,” she said.

Has Director Jonathan Glazer Finally Hit the Oscar ‘Zone’ With ‘Interest’?

Clayton Davis Senior Awards Editor With Jonathan Glazer’s previous films “Under the Skin” and “Birth,” the man was playing checkers. Now he’s playing chess with “The Zone of Interest.” For 105 minutes, the auteur filmmaker who’s helmed just three feature films, including the 2000 crime thriller “Sexy Beast” with Oscar nominee Ben Kingsley, puts the audience through the wringer with his bleak Nazi drama told from the perpetrator’s perspective. The result is the first major Oscar player to emerge from the Cannes Film Festival, and a serious contender for the coveted Palme d’Or. “Interest” is not for the faint of hearts. It’s a grueling endeavor that doesn’t use imagery to depict the horrors that resulted in the murdering of six million Jews. Instead, the soundscape provided by his frequent collaborator Johnnie Burn, the sound designer who’s snubbed work includes “The Favourite” and “Waves,” lays down his most audacious work yet.

‘The Zone of Interest’ Review: Jonathan Glazer’s Holocaust Drama Is Dark and Disturbing

Cannes Film Festival on Friday, Glazer’s disquieting essay-film takes place almost entirely in and around the comfortable, middle-class home of Auschwitz commandant Rudolf Höss, tackling both the banality and quiet domesticity of evil with eerie formal rigor.Viewed from afar, Rodolf (Christian Friedel) and Hedwig (Sandra Hüller) live an idyllic and unexceptional life. They’re happily married, upwardly mobile strivers, with faith in their government and hope for the future.
