The Great British Bake Off finally returns to our screens on Sunday, with a whole host of amateur bakers keen to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith. However, unlike the usual contestants, the new series of GBBO is actually a celebrity special, and will once again be hoping to raise money for the Stand Up To Cancer appeal.
With a whole host of famous faces taking part this year, including Friends star David Schwimmer and former Little Mix star Jesy Nelson, there’s everything to play for as our favourite stars bake, mix and decorate their way to victory. One star who is going to give it her all this series, is comedian Rose Matafeo, who viewers may recognise from her appearance on Taskmaster, or in the BBC comedy series Starstruck.
Ahead of her Bake Off debut this week, here’s everything you need to know about the New Zealand born star. Who is Rose Matafeo? Rose Matafeo is a professional comedian who originally hails from Ponsonby, Auckland.The 31 year star is best known to fans for her work on the New Zealand late night comedy sketch show Funny Girls, BBC’s Startruck and for taking part in Channel 4 smash hit Taskmaster.
Additionally, she has made numerous panel show appearances over the years on comedy shows such as Hypotheitcal and Richard Osman’s House of Games. In addition to her comedy, Rose is also an impressive writer and producer, including for Starstruck which she was instrumental in creating.
Early life Born and raised in New Zealand, Rose described her own upbringing as “quite relaxed” as her parents actively encouraged her interest in comedy. Rose attended the Auckland Girls Grammar School to complete her compulsory education, and was even made the Head Girl after her grades and behaviour impressed
