Locals were left shocked after a takeaway in Paisley burst into flames overnight, forcing residents to be evacuated as fire crews battled the inferno.
Emergency services were called to Aladdin's Tandoori in the Johnston Street area of the town at around 11.15pm on Thursday following reports of a fire.
A police officer reportedly raised the alarm after witnessing the blaze while returning to Mill Street station. The hero cop ran into the buildings alerting local residents of the danger.
Dramatic footage shows flames bursting from the floor of the first-story building as clouds of black smoke can be seen billowing up the tenement building. Firefighters can then be seen using hoses to put out the fire before entering the devastated businesses.
A local resident who captured the incident on camera told the Daily Record: "I noticed it at about 11.20 pm. It was just before the fire brigade showed up.
"I was quite shocked by it all. The fire was lightening up the entire street.
"Residents in the building were being evacuated and the workers from the takeaway were all standing outside. Firefighters were still there this morning.
"I think it might have spread to the shop next door and some of the other flats because I could see them in there. A lot of the flats above looked like they were filled with smoke."
The Scottish Fire and Rescue service has confirmed that three fire appliances and one height vehicle attended the incident. Fire crews remain on the scene.
There are not believed to be any casualties. It is currently unknown what caused the blaze.
