The Last Of Us star Bella Ramsey has called for “more space” for non-binary actors at awards shows.The star, who first broke out on Game Of Thrones, revealed earlier this year that they are gender-fluid.Speaking to Vanity Fair in a new interview, Ramsey discussed their “uncomfortable” experience submitting themselves for the 2023 Emmy Awards and how more needs to be done to make non-binary actors feel welcome and represented.“The categories at the moment feel extremely gendered with the language around them,” they said, going on to reveal that they ended up submitting themselves for an actress category despite not identifying with the term.“I don’t want the limitations in terms of the language in the categories to be a reason that non-binary actors like me can’t be celebrated,” Ramsey added.“And it can open up a conversation about how it feels – as long as I’m aware of the fact that it’s not ideal, but also that finding alternatives is really complex.”They went on: “For [non-binary people] to have a say and be part of those discussions and those conversations, that’s really important.“I just hope there’s more space for non-binary people to be recognised within [future] categories.”Speaking in a new interview with The New York Times earlier this year, Ramsey opened up about their gender identity.“I guess my gender has always been very fluid,” the actor said. “Someone would call me ‘she’ or ‘her’ and I wouldn’t think about it.

John Hopewell Chief International Correspondent “Creatura,” the feature debut of Elena Martín, exploring female sexual desire and repression, has won this year’s 20th Europa Cinemas Cannes Label for best European Film at the 2022 Cannes Directors’ Fortnight. Announced Thursday by Europa Cinemas, ahead of the closing ceremony this afternoon, the prize is one of two at Directors’ Fortnight, and awarded by one of the sidebar’s partners, given the section is non-competitive.   A second partner plaudit, the SACD Prize, handed out by France’s Writers’ Guild, will be announced simultaneously to the Europa Cinemas Label. 

Siobhan McSweeney’s BAFTA acceptance speech was edited out of the BAFTA TV Awards ceremony broadcast on Sunday. McSweeney won the best female comedy performance BAFTA for playing Sister Michael in Channel 4’s Northern Ireland-set show “Derry Girls.” During her speech McSweeney said: “I am daily impressed with how you encompass the spirit of compromise and resilience despite the indignities, ignorance, and stupidity of your so-called leaders in Dublin, Stormont and Westminster. In the words of my beloved Sister Michael, ‘It’s time they started to wise up.'” These lines were cut from the broadcast.

The BAFTA TV Awards made a welcome return to our TV screens, with dozens of stars gathering to celebrate the most prestigious awards in British television.The annual awards bash tonight, 14 May, was hosted by comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan and took place at The Royal Festival Hall in London. As most awards ceremonies are, the evening was filled with laughter, tears and glamorous red carpet looks, and some TV stars even walked away with two awards.

As co-hosts Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan gave a shoutout to Imelda Staunton, the former quipped: "She's nominated for her performance in The Crown... apparently Phil and Holly got to watch that a couple of days before everybody else!" Letting out a laugh, Ranganathan, 45, said: "Little bit of edge for you early doors! How d'ya like that?" as Beckett, 37, noted "all the ITV guys" trying to keep a straight face.

The leading actress BAFTA has been given to Kate Winslet for her performance in I Am Ruth, which sees a mother and daughter work through emotional turmoil.The 47-year-old actress: “[I am] guaranteed to be the one of the night to cry, I can’t see...” She added that “small British television dramas can be mighty” and mental health stories such as this one “need to be heard”. She said: “If I could break it in half, I would give the other half to my daughter Mia Threapleton, we did this together, kiddo.” As she said the words, the camera cut to her daughter, who cried as she put her hands to her mouth, blew her mother some kisses, and mouthed the words: "I love you." Kate went on to praise her daughter, Mia, as she said, honestly: "There were days when it was agony for her to dig as deeply as she did, into very frightening emotional territory, sometimes - it took my breath away." She continued: "I Am Ruth was made for parents and their children.

Billie Piper wowed at 2023 BAFTA Television Awards on Sunday, with the actress sporting a statement sequinned catsuit on the red carpet. Billie, 40, who was nominated for Best Actress for I Hate Suzy Too, joined a whole host of famous faces at the annual awards bash at The Royal Festival Hall in London on 14 May, and she made sure to stand out among the crowd. She modelled an incredible blue catsuit covered with sequins, which featured matching gloves and also covered her shoes.

Kate Winslet joined daughter and co-star Mia Threapleton at the British Academy Television Awards at London's Royal Festival Hall on Sunday. The Hollywood actress, 47, who is nominated for Best Actress for drama I Am Ruth, in which she starred alongside her daughter, 22, slipped into a gorgeous black evening dress for the event.  She looked sensational in the little black number which featured an asymmetrical highneck design and hugged every inch of her figure.

The event marks the second year in a row that Kate has been nominated for the best actress award at the TV BAFTAs, and she'll be competing against the likes of Billie Piper, Sarah Lancashire and Imelda Staunton, who all turned heads as they made their arrival outside London's Southbank Centre.
