on social media for being “rude and condescending” to contestants who struggled with their duet during the show’s “Hollywood Week.” This second wave of backlash comes hot on the heels of Perry being accused of “mom-shaming” contestant Sara-Beth Liebe, 25, into quitting the show.Perry, 38, has been slammed in the past for allegedly harsh comments toward contestants — despite the fact that the initial success of the singing competition hinged on former judge Simon Cowell’s infamously blunt critiques. The controversy continued after Tuesday’s episode, in which contestants Carina DeAngelo, 25, and Nutsa Abuza, 25, struggled throughout their rehearsal time to find the same rhythm. At one point, DeAngelo was left alone after Abuza left the rehearsal space for bed despite her friend wanting her to keep practicing.“It hurts my feelings when someone doesn’t take it as seriously as I do,” said DeAngelo. “Hollywood week is not a joke, it’s like Hunger Games or something.”Abuza returned to her friend and the duo kept working on their version of “I Put a Spell On You” till 3:20 a.m but even then DeAngelo was not satisfied.“I just want to f–king sound good and it doesn’t right now,” said DeAngelo.
