Rodney Barnes Joins HBO’s Jack Johnson Limited Series Starring Mahershala Ali As Writer & Executive Producer

EXCLUSIVE: The Good Place creator Mike Schur has reunited with the hit comedy’s star Ted Danson for The Mole Agent, a new serialized comedy, which has hit the premium/streaming marketplace, sparking heated bidding, sources tell Deadline. The project is based on the 2020 Chilean feature documentary The Mole Agent and hails from Schur’s longtime studio home, Universal Television. I hear the networks/platforms pursuing the show include Netflix, Apple TV+, Prime Video and HBO/Max.

EXCLUSIVE: Renate Reinsve (The Worst Person in the World), Peter Sarsgaard (Dopesick), and O-T Fagbenle (The Handmaid’s Tale) have joined the main cast of Presumed Innocent, Apple TV+’s upcoming limited series from David E. Kelley, J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot and Warner Bros. TV, where the company is based. They join previously cast Jake Gyllenhaal, who also executive produces, Ruth Negga, Bill Camp and Elizabeth Marvel.

Ben Stiller is setting an acting return with Three Identical Strangers, a high-profile limited series package, which just hit the premium/streaming marketplace. Stiller is in final negotiations to headline and executive produce the series, a multi-decade family drama inspired by the incredible true story of identical triplet brothers separated at birth. The project hails from Party Of Five co-creator Amy Lippman, Sony Pictures Television and its TriStar Television division as well as SK Global Entertainment.

The Last Of Us delivered another series high on Sunday with 7.5M people tuning in across HBO and HBO Max.

EXCLUSIVE: Starz is developing The Comedown, a comedic drama series based on Rafael Frumkin’s book by the same name, sources tell Deadline. The project hails from Regina King’s Royal Ties Productions and Freddie Highmore’s Alfresco Pictures as well as TriStar Television, a division of Sony Pictures TV where The Good Doctor star Highmore has had an overall deal. A rep for Starz declined comment.

The Terminal List is continuing — and becoming a franchise for Amazon Studios. I have learned that Prime Video has finalized a Season 2 renewal for the hit series starring and executive produced by Chris Pratt and also has picked up an untitled prequel/Ben Edwards origin series headlined and executive produced by Taylor Kitsch, from The Terminal List creator/executive producer David DiGilio.

Bravo dropped the trailer for their new limited series SWV & XSCAPE: The Queens of R&B and the stars are seen clashing. The show is set to premiere on Sunday, March 5 at 9:30 p.m. ET and you can watch a preview in the video posted above.

EXCLUSIVE: Sony Pictures Television is putting the limited series Jackpot into early development inspired by the hardscrabble life of Philly high-stakes gambler-turned-FBI confidential source RJ Cipriani (aka Robin Hood 702) who was the lynchpin in taking down a multi-million dollar drug ring. Nicholas Stoller, and his Stoller Global Solutions partner Conor Welch, as well as Jamie Canniffe, are executive producing with Cipriani.

Nicole Kidman already has a strong partnership with HBO after “Big Little Lies” and “The Undoing.” Now she’ll team up with network again for a new limited series. Deadline reports that Kidman and Maya Erskine will star in “The Perfect Nanny,” with Erksine also serving as writer and showrunner.

Kidman and Pen15 co-creator and co-lead Maya Erskine are set to star in the project, which HBO landed in a very competitive situation. Erskine is the creator and writer of the limited series, based on the book of the same name by by Leïla Slimani. Legendary Television is the co-studio with HBO.

Clark – aka Chris Clark – has announced that he will release new album ‘Sus Dog’ in May. The record was “mentored and executive produced” by Radiohead’s Thom Yorke.“Chris wrote me to say he’d started singing, looking for feedback/advice or whatever, cos it was kind of new shark-infested waters for him”, says Yorke.
