bitter libel case between her and Coleen Rooney heads to trial. Mrs Vardy, the wife of Foxes striker Jamie, is alleged to have tried to sell the story of Danny Drinkwater’s arrest for drink driving to the Sun back in 2019. In texts between her and her agent, Rebekah is seen revealing the news before it was public and then demanded payment, reports the Liverpool Echo.
The texts are the latest in a series made public as part of the ongoing legal case between Mrs Vardy and Coleen Rooney, the wife of Derby manager Wayne. It has been alleged that Rebekah Vardy had repeatedly leaked information to the Sun about the Rooneys and others - a matter she has always denied. These were details that were not in the public domain at that time. “Story … Danny Drinkwater arrested […] Crashed his car drunk with two girls in it … both in hospital one with broken ribs x,” her text read. A second message moments later saw Mrs Vardy adding: “I want paying for this x.
”After sending the text to her agent, it’s alleged that it was then sent to Sun journalist Andy Halls who “replied immediately” saying they were already aware of the incident due to a “leak within the police station”. Danny Drinkwater, who was once a team-mate of Jamie Vardy at Leicester, was playing for Chelsea at the time of the arrest. He was subsequently banned from driving for almost two years.
